ALICE HAS TO DIE is a photographic project of narrative inspired by the characters of Alice in Wonderland. The only means of narration is the visual power of the photographic image. EXPERIMENTATION

Am I wrong for changing my friends baby’s diaper without their permission?

One of my longest friends, Mike (24) just had a baby with his fiance Karen (26F). I was over his place on his day off. He has 2 sons, one is 6 and the other is almost 1 years old.

I see them all the time I come I'm over. I feel like an uncle. I have 5 siblings and I'm 2nd to oldest, I also used to work at a daycare too, so I'm not new to changing diapers and dealing with children.

Karen wasn't there while I came to visit, I noticed that their one year old needed their diaper changed and mentioned it to my friend Mike, he said 'yeahh' and just sat back to continue to talk about whatever we were even talking about. While he's talking, time goes by almost an hour and the kids diaper is hanging off of him. I again, mentioned this to Mike and he just says he thinks that Karen is supposed to be here by now.

I asked where the diapers and baby wipes were and he told me where they were, and also watched me change his son's diaper while he continued talking to me. His son also has a diaper rash. Anyway Karen comes back about 30 minutes after I changed him.

Before I leave, I let her know that her son looks like he has a diaper rash and her face slowly became disturbed to enraged. She ran over to Mike and I'm thinking maybe she's upset because of the diaper rash. Mike comes out and tells me that I...

AITA For Insisting My BFF's Husband Come to My Wedding?

Update: Hi! I want to first thank everyone for their kind words/tough love. Last night and this morning were not good times. I sat fiancé down shortly after I made this post and flat out asked him where he was at on not only this, but, well, q***r people writ large. I won't repeat what he said, but it was a lot of dodging and not an acceptable answer (there was also some down right hateful stuff said. How he really feels and what he has been saying to me the past 5 years is quite different it would seem). I got very angry and kinda lost my temper. I get he is coming from a literally different place, but it is clear a lot of what I took for his growing acceptance was his playing along to not make me angry. I couldn't stay in the house with him last night, so guess whose guest bedroom this is being written from? S&C's (I called S in tears. He told me to grab the dog and come on over) Anyway, there is not going to be a wedding anytime soon, if ever. I don't know how we come back from this, really. I feel like an i__ot, but I am glad it all came out now, rather than later, I guess.

My fiancé (37m) and I (36f) are from very different cultural and family backgrounds. I grew up between North America and Europe in a pretty liberal family. He grew up in a conservative evangelical family in East Africa. It does cause problems occasionally but...

AITA for asking a tell a black girl I like her afro hairstyle better?

There's this girl who always sits beside me in in our British literature class and we get a long really well. Her hair is different like every day. Sometimes her hair is in corn rows, sometimes it's in short braids, sometimes it's long and straight and sometimes it's in afro. I really don't understand how she is able to change it so often but I think it's cool. I didn't really grow up around a lot of black people but from the little I know I assume straight black long hair is a wig or weave. Yesterday she came to class with this kind of cool style that was braided on top and then the braids led into a afro and there were really colorful beads all over her hair (I know I'm s__t at describing this) I thought it looked really nice so when we were discussing the reading I told her I liked her hair (I've told her this before) She said thanks and smiled.

I then said her hair always looks great but I like this style the best and prefer it to the wigs. She was silent for a few seconds and then said "no offence but I really don't care about a white guy's opinion about my hair."

I just totally did not expect that response. I wasn't even trying to be rude or act like my opinion matters but I thought it was a good thing to tell a black girl you prefer her natural hair. Like it was a compliment. I kinda feel dumb because I wanted...

WIBTA for confronting my parents who don’t acknowledge my birthday because of 9/11?

I was born on 9/11 in the 80s. I have two sets of parents, neither set acknowledges my birthday in any way once I turned 15–the year of the attacks. It’s always hurt and irritated me. None of them have ever said why but every year I hope for a text or something and it never happens.

We didn’t know anyone who died or was directly affected by the attacks. We lived across the country. Other than watching it on tv like everyone else it wasn’t something that was directly connected to us. Because then I could understand.

I didn’t even know to connect the events of 9/11 to the lack of birthday acknowledgement until this morning when my stepparent messaged me and said they never say anything about my birthday because they don’t think it’s appropriate while the whole country is mourning.

It boggles my mind that these two sets of people who hate each other so much have come to the same conclusion that this is the best course of action without ever mentioning it to me. I always feel so rejected.

WIBTA for being irritated about this and confronting them? It’s not like anyone else in my life has a problem sending birthday greetings. My MIL always makes a point to call which means a lot to me.

ETA: I just wonder if it’s not bratty to be all “love me because it’s my birthday!”

I had always assumed they were somehow forgetting my birthday. But knowing they remember and can’t be bothered makes me mad!

AITJ for calling my friend’s emergency contact when she left her kid with me "for 20 minutes" and vanished?

My friend "Kayla" (29F) asked if I could watch her 6-year-old son for "like 20 minutes" while she ran into a store near my place.

I said yes because I’ve known her for years, and I’ve watched him before; he’s a good kid.

She showed up, dropped him off with his tablet and a snack, and said she’d be right back.

About 40 minutes later, I texted her a simple "hey, everything ok?" No reply. An hour passes, and I call. Straight to voicemail.

I start getting that hot panic feeling because I’m not his parent and i dont know what’s going on.

Her son starts asking when mom is coming back, and I’m trying to keep it light, like "soon, bud," while I’m also refreshing my phone like a maniac.

I texted again, then again. Still nothing. At the 2-hour mark i’m honestly scared something happened, but I’m also pi**ed because this is not "20 minutes" anymore.

I also had plans later, and I’d basically been volunteered into childcare with no end time.
I finally looked at the little info card she once left in her bag (emergency contact and pediatrician, stuff like that) and called the emergency contact, her older sister.

I didn't call to get her in trouble, I called because i didnt know if Kayla was in a car accident or had passed out or what.

Her sister answered immediately and sounded confused, then went quiet and said, "Wait, she told you twenty minutes?"

Apparently, Kayla had texted her earlier that she was "going...

My [45M] Wife [42F] revealed she was unfaithful and I'm divorcing her. Our children [15F & 17M] hate me for it?

Edit: Guys, I appreciate the advice. But I'm not asking on how to get past the infidelity. I've made my decision, and it's not something I'm willing to forgive. I'm looking for advice on how to handle this with my kids, and how to reassure them we can still be a family even if we aren't married.

My wife and I have been together for 18 years. We had our ups and downs but overall our marriage has been solid and she was my best friend. We've always been very close with our children and have raised them very much as a unit, and in turn they're very close to us.

About two weeks ago I brought up an advice column in the paper I had read regarding infidelity and talked about it for a bit, and I could see she had clearly started to tear up and was attempting to hide it, so I asked her what was bothering her. She confessed that about 7 years ago she cheated on me with a former coworker on a business trip, and then once with him after that before breaking it off due to guilt. This was around the time she left that job for a new one which she had told me back then was due to feeling like it wasn't a good fit but now confesses was because she didn't want to work with him anymore. She says she never had a good reason for it, she knew it was wrong then but gave into the urge and nothing has ever happened since. Claims she...

AITA for making a disrespectful comment about God because my cousin wouldn’t shut up about my accident?

I’ll admit I’m (M26) dealing with some heavy stuff right now. I was in an accident last December that killed my best friend &left me paralyzed from the waist down. This is a dramatic change in my life that I still struggle with, not being able to walk again, losing someone I love, dealing with survivors guilt and other emotional stuff that leaves me in a dark place.

Before this, I was never religious and neither is anyone in my family except my cousin. She’s tried for years to drag everyone to her church.
It feels like ever since this happened, she’s used my accident to prove God is great because there was a high possibility I wasn’t going to make it and he “saved me.” It’s all she talks about with the family.

While dealing with all the physical and emotional trauma that comes with this, my cousin hasn’t stopped bothering me about going to church with her to thank god for this miracle, which still doesn’t feel like that to me but I’m trying to work that out in therapy.

I’ve told her many times that’s not my belief and church is the last place I want to be.

It’s got worse now that the church services are online so she literally comes to my place so we can watch together. I ask her to leave and it takes a few times until she does.

I reached my breaking point last week when again she insisted when we were all having breakfast. At the table she talked about God having a...

AUTA for refusing to let my sisters kid to stay at my house when she came up unannounced?

So, here’s the situation. I (32F) live alone in a small apartment in the city. I’m single, work full-time, and generally enjoy my peace and quiet. My sister "Tina" (35F) is married with three kids (10M, 7F, 4M). Tina and I get along well enough, but we’ve always had different lifestyles. She’s very much the "family is everything" type, while I’m more focused on my career and personal space.

Last weekend, Tina showed up at my apartment out of the blue with all three of her kids. No call, no text, just a knock on my door at 9 a.m. I was still in my pajamas, drinking coffee, and enjoying my Saturday morning when she barged in, kids in tow, saying she and her husband needed a "break" and wanted to drop the kids off at my place for the day.

I was caught off guard and told her I wasn’t prepared for that. My apartment is not child-proofed, and I had plans to meet up with some friends later in the day. I offered to help her find a sitter or suggested that maybe she could take the kids to a park instead, but she got upset and said I was being selfish. She insisted that I "never help with the kids" and that I’m "always too busy" for family.

Things got a bit heated, and I ended up telling her that while I love my nieces and nephews, she can’t just expect me to drop everything without any notice, especially when I wasn’t even asked beforehand. She left angrily, saying she’d never ask...

AITA for reporting my tinder date to the FBI?

So, I (27F) recently went on a Tinder date with this guy (32M) who works at a nuclear power plant. Seemed interesting over text, but the actual date turned into a complete nightmare. He shows up 45 minutes late, no apology, just starts bragging about his job as shift leader in the control room. His attitude was really off-putting; he talks about having power over 'midgets' and 'vermin', and by that, he means people in general, which was really disturbing. He ranted about how much he hates everyone he sees and how he wants to cause chaos and destruction. I tried to steer the conversation to something else, but he kept fixating on his job. Then things got really worse; he starts bragging about knowing how to trigger a reactor core meltdown, laughing about it like it's some kind of joke. I couldn't tell if he was serious, but it totally freaked me out. It seemed like he was getting a kick out of the idea of using his position to cause a c__astrophe. I ended the date early, went home, and couldn't stop thinking about what he said. Was he trying to impress me in a sick way, or could he really be dangerous? After a lot of thought, I decided to report him to the FBI. I figured it's better to be safe than sorry, right? But now I'm second-guessing myself. Some friends think I did the right thing, but others say I should've just ignored it since he was probably joking. Can't shake the feeling I might've overreacted and potentially ruined someone's career over a...

AITA for making my coworker upset and walking out of a shift?

I (F21) work at a bowling alley. I love my coworkers and my job. I'm always willing to pick up a shift if someone's asking me .

Two weeks ago, my coworker asked if I could cover her shift for yesterday. Of course I said yes. Two days before she send me a message saying she wanted to work the shift herself because her mother would come play a game of bowling.

I didn't like it but said yes. So I gave back her shift. A day before that shift she messaged me again, asking again if I could cover the shift because she was sick.

I was kinda pi**ed but sure. She was sick so I was willing to cover for her. Fast forward to the day of the shift (yesterday).

I was working for her. Her mother walked in for the planned game she was playing and we had a small talk. About coworker and the job.

No biggie, was a nice talk. Thirty minutes later, coworker walks in. Happily talking to her mother, not sick.

I talked about the situation before to my supervisor that day, explaining how things went between me and coworker. So I went to my supervisor, said 'coworker just walked in' I was pi**ed about this. I'm willing to cover a shift for everyone but I thought she was sick!

Supervisor told me it was a weird situation and if coworker wasn't sick, she should work her shift herself. So I went over to her. Said 'if you're not sick you are gonna have...
