RAF Typhoons flying low over Ullswater in the Lake District on a crisp winter morning.

This pair of Typhoons were from 29 Squadron based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.

The Royal Air Force regularly train at low level and fly down to as low at 250ft. In some areas of the UK fixed wing are permitted at low as 100ft and rotary aircraft even lower.

Hellenic Air Force F-4 Phantoms flying in a mixed formation with a pair of F-16’s from 336 Mira in a low level flight through a narrow canyon in Greece.

The F-4 has been in service with the Hellenic Air Force for over 50 years and is still flying today from their base at Andravida.

The F-117 was officially retired from service in 2008 but a number of the aircraft are still operated today at the Tonopah Test Range (TTR) in Nevada.

US Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle flying low and fast through a narrow, snow covered valley in the Lake District.

This particular aircraft is from the 494th Fighter Squadron based at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk. The squadron regularly use the Lake District for routine low level training.

Look closely and you can see a boat or two.

F-15E Strike Eagles from the 494th FS making a low level run through the Kirkstone Pass before heading for Ullswater. You may notice the lead aircraft wears special markings and is commonly referred to as the ‘Liberator’ amongst aviation enthusiasts.

This particular squadron of aircraft are based at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk.
