Question: Am I Standing In The Best Place To Make This Photograph: If you are lucky, the answer is "Yes". But don't always trust that your feet have delivered you to the best point of view. Dramatic changes in viewpoint may be gained by simply taking a few steps in another direction. Do not be afraid to move, especially if you see something you want to capture, but the composition is not working for you. Also, what does the view behind you look like? Do a 180 and check all out..

I was asked to explain the Sunny 16 Rule... So here it is..

Snow/sand f/22, ISO/Shutter 100 1/125 400 1/500, 800 1/1000

Sunny (Hard shadows) f/16, ISO/Shutter 100 1/125, 400 1/500, 800 1/1000

Sunny (Soft shadows) f/11, ISO/Shutter 100 1/125, 400 1/500, 800 1/1000

Cloudy f/8, ISO/Shutter 100 1/125, 400 1/500, 800 1/1000

Shade f/5.6, 100 1/125, 400 1/500, 800 1/1000

As you can see the ISO/Shutter stay the same, the only thing that changes is the Aperture depending on conditions.

Hope this helps with the Sunny 16 Rule..

Often, we wonder if an image is really that good or whether it is artistic enough. Instead of wondering on the spot just take the shot, don't let fear get ahold of you or think about whether that image will be liked.

It's You who will in the end make the decision to publish it or not. It just my happen that you really did like that image months from now.

Had A Question On How To Photograph Lightning: So Stacy from Holden Beach I got your answers..

* Close Lightning: f/13.0, 30 seconds, ISO 100...

* Distant Lightning: f/ 8.0, 8 seconds, ISO 500..

* Bright objects in forground: f/13.0, 25 seconds, ISO 300

* Fast moving clouds: f/8.0, 15 seconds, ISO 500

f/13.0 is the Aperture, 30 seconds is the shutter speed and you already have the ISO..

So there you have it for Lightning..Thanks for the question Stacy.

Landscape photography is an art form that thrives on the unpredictability of nature. While many might stay away from unfavorable weather, seasoned photographers know that some of the most captivating images are born in the elements.

From stormy skies to fog can add depth, emotion and intrigue to your images. As we dive into the weather conditions, let's explore how embracing the elements can transform your landscape photography into powerful visual stories.

Photographing In Bad Weather; Storms And Lightning:

Storms offer some of the most dramatic and powerful moments in landscape photography. The reward for braving a storm can be a image filled with intense emotion and movement.

Dramatic light is a prime feature of storms. Storms offer dynamic lightning, where dark clouds are pierced of rays of sunlight. Capturing movement as storm clouds rolling across the sky, and thr blur of raindrops contribute to the dynamic energy of a storm.

Use a slowe shutter speed to capture this movement, creating a sense of drama and motion in your image. You can choose to include foreground or just the turbulent skies the main subject.

Create Depth:

One of the challenges of photography is it's inherently two-dimensional nature.

To create depth, it's important to reveal more than conceal. Offer the viewer as much as possible allowing them to experience the scene as if they were standing beside you. One of my favorite images was taken at Sunset Beach in North Carolina. The composition allows the viewer to guide their eye through the entire frame straight to the Sun, from the foreground to the background.

Let's Keep Manual Mode Simple: You don't need to memorize everything, you just need a plan..

ISO - Controls brightness + grain

* Low ISO (100,200) = ideal + less grain
* High ISO (800 +) = brighter + grain

Aperture - Controls background blur + focus

* Low( f/1.8) = blurry background
* High (f/6 +) = more in focus

Shutter Speed - Controls motion + sharpness

*Fast (1/1000) = sharp
*Slow (1/30) = blur

The Order

ISO > Fix brightness

* Too dark? Raise ISO
* Too bright? Lower ISO

Aperture or F Stop > Choose your look

* Blurry background - Lower f Stop (1.4-3.5)
* More in focus - Higher f Stop (4.0 or higher)

Shutter Speed > Keep It Sharp

* At least 1/150 For people
* Faster if there's movement

Hope this help you to keep things simple on your next adventure.
