We are approaching a year since Chief left this earth. Last year before he went to heaven, I asked him to send me a sign when he gets where he’s going. I had to pick the sign because I wouldn’t believe it. So I picked a deer in an obscure place. When I was ready to lay him to rest, I covered him in a sheet, placed some flowers on him and went up to the house.
I was in the house looking out my bedroom window, where I could see his body laying and out walks a deer, less than 10 feet from his body. There were a couple of deer that day. I watched them hang around. And when I left the house, I had one jump in the road in front of me. Through tears, I thanked Chief for the signs.
For the past year, deer have shown up for me in random places, but a few at my house. Some even hang around, giving me time to take their photos. But lately I haven’t seen any. I figured they’re still hiding from hunting season.
Yesterday, I left to get the boys off the bus and Daisy called. “Mom there’s a deer laying in the field by Chiefs pasture.” So I guided her how to use my camera and she got the last two photos in this post. He was gone by the time I got back.
At dinner time I went to start dinner and realized the chicken I was going to make was bad. So pizza it is. While I was getting the pizza, Daisy called again. The deer is back. When I got home, she was outside taking photos of him. He stayed. I was able to park my car, switch my lens, and take multiple photos and videos of him.
It’s been a hard year without him. But I’m so thankful for the little signs he sends. Letting me know he’s ok and he’s still with me.
If you made it this far, do you ever get signs from your loved ones? Let me know in the comments.
