I was finally able to slowdown and take a look at some analysis of the MMIP Billboard Project and here are the numbers to date:

Since 2021, Ive been able to put up almost 60 billboards throughout Montana, spending almost $8,100 out of donations coupled with Lamar Advertising of Montana donating close to $125k to this project.

I sit in awe with a humble heart, thanking everyone from the bottom of my heart that has supported this project and continues to do so. Each donation I am able to get, I have been able to support the Snowbird fund (that directly helps MMIP families with some support when their loved one goes missing) and others in more of a direct way.

Keep supporting and keep helping MMIP families bring awareness to their specific case and educated those who still know nothing about this epidemic. A'ho

A new federal audit has found that 10 U.S. Attorney districts did not fully meet the requirements of Savanna’s Act, the federal law designed to strengthen coordination and communication in cases involving Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP).

Released on July 29, 2026, the audit by the U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (DOJ OIG) reviewed how U.S. Attorney districts serving Indian Country implemented the law.

According to the report, 39 districts met the required standards, while 10 districts did not fully comply with the guidelines established under Savanna’s Act.

The audit found that some districts did not include all required statutory provisions in their MMIP guidelines, while others relied on general templates instead of developing procedures tailored to the Tribal Nations and communities they serve.

The report also identified broader implementation challenges, including a 40% vacancy rate in the Department of Justice’s MMIP Regional Outreach Program as of February 2026 and the absence of consistent national performance measures to evaluate MMIP-related work.

The Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys agreed with the Inspector General’s recommendations and said it is working with the affected districts to update their guidelines, strengthen Tribal consultation, and achieve full compliance.

Signed into law in 2020, Savanna’s Act was created to improve coordination, data collection, and communication among law enforcement agencies while strengthening collaboration with Tribal Nations.

Had the amazing opportunity to sit on a panel at Indigipalooza in Missoula, Montana this past weekend. The panel was titled, Nobody's Victims: Matri-Leadership and MMIP. I also got to listen to Robin Wall Kimmerer, the author of Braiding Sweetgrass give a keynote. It was a good weekend connecting to all.
