They also told me they were ā€œawkwardā€ in front of the camera and then proceeded to be all cute and s**t. So for those of you worried how youā€™ll look in front of the camera, just show up, love on your person, and Iā€™ll make the magic happen šŸ˜‰

Now that Iā€™ve recovered from pulling an all-nighter at a birth and being awake for 27 hoursā€¦ hey! Hereā€™s some sneak peeks šŸ¤Ŗ

We did Tatumā€™s ā€œsitterā€ session at the wildflower field except she didnā€™t want to sit on the grass or smile or do anything but sit in momā€™s arms. Lol. And you know what? Thatā€™s totally fine. Iā€™m always a big fan of the snuggly shots anyway. šŸ„° Never panic when kids arenā€™t in the mood for photos. My approach is to shift the focus to a more play-centered session where they donā€™t have to hold still and smile. Itā€™s never ā€œjust pictures.ā€ Most of the time, I tell kids weā€™re going on a walk, finding treasure, or just simply playing and running around. Moms and dads, trust the process and join the play. ā¤ļø

Iā€™ve had so many sessions at Where The Wildflowers Bloom this year and I just canā€™t say enough good about them! Not only is the property gorgeous, but the owners are incredibly sweet and helpful! Cannot recommend it enough šŸ¤—

You canā€™t pause it, but you can *preserve* it. A newborn session bottles up that brand-new feeling that is gone in the blink of an eye.

When I talk to moms with older kids, I hear so often how they regret not getting newborn photos done while they were little. The newborn stage is so fleeting and I think all parents can agree when I say that time is a damn thief.

If youā€™re expecting this fall/winter, itā€™s the perfect time to reach out and schedule your session. I also bundle with maternity & milestones if you want to document the full first year.

One of my biggest pieces of advice for those of you searching for a photographer, especially for a wedding or birth photographerā€¦. make sure you choose someone who knows how to shoot in any lighting condition.

Full sun, pitch black, or candlelit, you have to know your camera and how to quickly adjust your settings to accommodate the light, or lack thereof.

I thought this before & after was a fun one. šŸ¤Ŗ
