John contacted me earlier this year in early spring. He told me that he and his wife were already married and unable to throw a large reception for their friends and family at the time but were planning a special reception for their first anniversary. We squared away all the details and then we didn't really speak until earlier this week.

When I arrived yesterday, the weather was PERFECT. I was beautiful and warm and you could just tell everyone was so happy to be there. It was held at John's parents house in their backyard. It was an intimate but beautiful setup with a touch of elegance. I got to know John and Kiratika a bit and learned that they met one another at a Thai restaurant and it just snowballed from there. Kita came to the US from Thailand to spend time with her sister who lives here and never planned to meet an American husband. Surprise! She told me that while she never planned it, she could have never chosen a better man to settle with. I was a romantic story.

Kita also told me that when they decided to throw a party and needed photographer, she knew when she saw my work that she wanted me no matter what and didn't care what my fees were- but was thankful that I wasn't expensive - and said that she can't wait to return to me in the future when it is time to expand their family. John and Kita were so welcoming and laid back and kind. Johns calm manner balances Kitas more bubbly and outgoing nature and they radiate love. It didn't hurt that John snagged a STUNNING woman reminiscent of a model, I mean...she made couple portraits easy.

When I first spoke to Carissa, I learned that she was a woman who knew what she wanted. She inquired through my website, basically just needed me to answer a question in one email, and once she got the answer she was ready to book right then and there. The immediate confidence she had in me made me feel all warm and fuzzy right away.

We followed each other on socials and got to know one another from a distance until they decided that they wanted a last minute engagement session at the Carnegie Art Museum and it was all my artistic dreams coming true. We hung out for a couple hours, a couple weeks later I delivered their gallery they fell in love with and we just clicked as if the 3 of us have been friends for years. We’ve sent plans, TikTok’s, memes back and forth, as well as embarrassing moments of our kids up until we’d g day and when I showed up Saturday it was like I was shooting my friends wedding. This is the part I love- beginning as a business owner providing a service for someone, but by the end of the service they’re not just a client- but a true friend. On Saturday, we laughed, hugged, cried and laughed some more. I can’t wait to watch Caleb and Carissa and their little ones live life together from behind the camera and I can’t wait to see our friendship grow.
