Milky Way over the lodge we visited a few years ago outside San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. Those night skies are surreal.

Hi all,

Here is a deep dive into the beautiful Centaurus A Galaxy. I wanted to go deep on the HA and Luminance to see what kind of unique details surround this target. Pulling detail out of the HA jet was pretty cool. Zooming around to see the background galaxies scattered throughout made this a fun image to work on.

Hope you enjoy the image!

HaLRGB image totally 99 hours of exposure with an APM105 refractor and
600 camera.

Throwback to a night out under the stars in Death Valley National Park. Moonrise over the dunes turned night into day.

Throwback to my time with PlaneWave Instruments where we did an astrophotography workshop at McDonald Observatory in Texas. During this workshop we unveiled the brand new DeltaRho 350 telescope, which at the time was the first production unit...and boy was it impressive!

We had a fun time under the night skies on our 5th annual Mt. Rainier National Park photography workshop! Always a treat getting back to the park to share in the beauty this mountain has to offer.

We have a few seats left on our class next July, so sign up at www.MattDieterich.com/mountrainier2026

Throwback to the solar eclipse last April from a trip to Maine. Incredible view of multiple solar prominences.

Another view from the recent total lunar eclipse. This was such a cool shot to see live on the back of the camera screen. I love the contrast of the Earth's shadow fading away as sunlight began to strike the upper section of the Moon.

Single 1/2 second photo with a Sony A7IV and 200-600mm lens with 2x converter at 1200mm.

Were you able to see total lunar eclipse early this morning? We had clear skies in Pittsburgh and was treated to this beautiful view of our celestial companion!
