More Autumn in the Mountains 2025

We drove up on the Parkway a few weeks ago. I like to go there often throughout the year, driving the parkway is one of my favorite things to do, especially in the Fall. We hadn't been since summer of 2024 due to Hurricane Helene.
We were met with many road closures. I got out of the car to walk around at each one, didn't like it. It was eeiry and felt like a scene from the Walking Dead. Abandoned, weeds grown up on and around the road, quiet except for the sound of insects which would drive you nuts. It's amazing how quickly nature reclaims things; roads, houses, buildings, untended land....
We knew it was still closed in many areas around us due to extensive damage but didn't know exactly where. We quickly found we could only travel a short distance either direction. Progress is happening, much as has been repaired quicker than anyone expected. There is still alot of work to be done on these sections before it can be open again. There are ways around these sections, you can get to many of the places you want to go but with long detours. Check before you head out.

I love this image. Her eyes, whiskers, ears, her mouth and nose ... the details are crisp, in focus, while the white of her fur remains soft as cotton. Her name is Snowball. Our grand girls say she's a "snow panther". 😀

We have an available slot for Christmas pictures Saturday, November 29 at 3:40 PM. The fee is $70 all inclusive. Let me know if you would like to claim this spot. No backdrops this time. I’m using the space, a few decorations and as always, hot chocolate and coffee.

If you would like to be put on our waiting list, please let me know! Currently we are booked completely for our Christmas picture portrait event but this is always a fluid situation. I took this picture from inside of the Prayer Tower. I had a phenomenal experience that evening, one that was spirit filled. When I saw the light coming through the crack in the door, I was overcome with a range of thoughts and emotions.
I won’t lead you too much in my description. I would rather the photograph speak to you and you gain your own perception of it.
