When the day shifts into twilight, the lake transforms into a mirror of dreams.

After the sun set, the sky deepened into brilliant hues of purples, blues, and oranges, reflecting on the quiet water. Lights on the dam illuminate the way for travelers, spilling over on the darkening lake.

Ventured out with a fabulous group of photographers for an evening of night photography, long exposure, and capturing light trails last week. We set up at a park nestled in a fork in the road and waited for groups of cars to approach before clicking our shutter buttons. Lots of laughter, sharing, and great captures!

My favorite photograph from my recent visit to Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. You can find this guy, a green tree python, in his habitat case inside the Koala exhibit. Now I'm not someone who loves snakes. In fact, they're one of my least favorite animals. Yet, I have to give this guy props on perfect posing.

Fountain at the Botanical Gardens at Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC. Photograph taken using Intentional Camera Movement.

Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) images are partially or completely blurred using longer exposure times and planned movement of the camera. Most importantly, they are planned and deliberate captures, although sometimes delightful accidental ICM shots happen. Movement can be vertical, horizontal, diagonal, circular, random, zoom (zooming in or out whilst opening the shutter), or panning (keeping a moving object in focus while blurring the background). For this image, I moved the camera downwards whilst depressing the shutter button.

The elder of the two baby flamingos hatched at Riverbanks Zoo last month is learning to stand on one leg and is very proud of themselves. As we watched, I noticed that this little one could keep this pose a little longer each time they tried.

The little one grows more independent each day. The parents leave their growing progeny alone for longer periods of time.

Inspired by Patrick of One-Eyed Dog Studios, I edited this sunrise photograph in black and white and in colour. The black and white version is my favourite. Langley Pond Park in Langley, SC at sunrise. The air temperature wasn't cold enough to coax more than faint wisps of mist on the pond's surface. Early morning fishermen must have found a different fishing hole for the daybreak. The pond was eerily quiet as the sun emerged.

Sunset at Clarks Hill Dam last week. A bit shy, the sun hid behind the clouds to the right as it slid beneath the horizon. But it couldn't contain the rays that painted the sky with a blaze of colours.

Early morning at the a few weeks ago. Capturing this horse with all four hooves off of the ground is a photography bucket list moment for me. The tree in the background is Blue Peter's Tree, the symbol of the Aiken Training Track.

Another beautiful sunrise at Langley Pond Park! Mist hovered over the surface, rising and falling with the gentle breeze. We spied a few fishermen on the shoreline and fishing from boats.
