05/04/2026
I realized today that 2026 is a big year for MoHo Photo:
- I'll be shooting my 100th (!!!) celebration in early June
- As of this August, I will have been doing this work full time for 5 years
- This will be my 10th season shooting weddings
While I usually tell folks I started in 2019, the truth is I was pursuing this life long before then. While I had my day job in IT, I shot friend's weddings, tagged along with many, many established photographers as an assistant or second photographer, and took my time figuring out.
It was 2021 when I quit that job and let photography take me wherever it went, and I haven't regretted it for one moment. While at the time I felt like it was taking forever to feel confident in the work I was doing, I'm so grateful I took that time. By putting no pressure on myself to "go full time," my work really became my own. While the way I work has changed, my why never has. I love the rush of documenting a wedding day, with all of it's chaos and wonder. I will forever be chasing that high of capturing those moments as they happen in the moment.
To have my career split in half this year feels a little poetic: the first half striving and growing, the second half (a little) more established and confident. Here's to the next 5 years and all the wild and wonderful changes that will come ✨
