Made a little trip down to Massachusetts last weekend to capture Amy and Chris at their new home for their engagement. We had the perfect spring golden hour evening to frolic in their backyard, pick dandelions, and have a sweet and silly time together.

Waits patiently (but not that patiently) for Spring to arrive.

I recently wrote on the blog how my inspiration for using film has a kind of seasonality to it. Spring is when I go in for those tiny details that are just starting to emerge, those pops of color against the soft browns of the world just starting to wake up. I feel more connected to it all when I slow down to get my manual focus jussssst right to isolate the tiniest of blooms. I can't wait to embrace the instinct even more this season.

I realized today that 2026 is a big year for MoHo Photo:

- I'll be shooting my 100th (!!!) celebration in early June
- As of this August, I will have been doing this work full time for 5 years
- This will be my 10th season shooting weddings

While I usually tell folks I started in 2019, the truth is I was pursuing this life long before then. While I had my day job in IT, I shot friend's weddings, tagged along with many, many established photographers as an assistant or second photographer, and took my time figuring out.

It was 2021 when I quit that job and let photography take me wherever it went, and I haven't regretted it for one moment. While at the time I felt like it was taking forever to feel confident in the work I was doing, I'm so grateful I took that time. By putting no pressure on myself to "go full time," my work really became my own. While the way I work has changed, my why never has. I love the rush of documenting a wedding day, with all of it's chaos and wonder. I will forever be chasing that high of capturing those moments as they happen in the moment.

To have my career split in half this year feels a little poetic: the first half striving and growing, the second half (a little) more established and confident. Here's to the next 5 years and all the wild and wonderful changes that will come ✨

Imagine eloping surrounded by your favorite people. And by people I very much include animals.

Heidi and Ryan made the conscious effort to pick a place where they could bring their cat and dog l, and having them there as they were getting ready made the entire experience so fun. It's rare for me to get a cat on camera during a wedding, but for an elopement? Anything goes.

It's finally (hopefully) spring in VT, and I'm dreaming of all the beautiful moments to come this year, both personally and with all the couples who are having me tag along for their celebrations. I'm finding so much inspiration with these film scans from Savannah and Grant's rainy wedding last summer and will definitely be doing more this season ❤️

Sometimes it's the simple plans that really makes an elopement special. Melissa and Ianna had their closest friends and family over for lunch at the home Melissa grew up in, and they were married by the fireplace with everyone they loved circled around them. They finished it off by cutting into their favorite Ben and Jerry's ice cream cake. The day was pure perfection.

Being able to see all the little details in a home makes photographing it so immersive for me. People just move differently when they're somewhere familiar, and I love every opportunity I get to document elopements just like this one ❤️

This wedding photographer is ready to come out of hibernation 🐻

I've spent my slow season snuggling my dogs, baking a butt ton of sourdough, working on long neglected crochet projects, and playing so much Animal Crossing. Now I'm dreaming of warmer days chasing people around with my camera again.

Weddings are an act of resistance ⚡

I've been struggling with this concept for over a year now, so this is just as much a reminder for me as it is for you. Celebrating love will never, ever be at the expense of others and what we're all suffering through. It's a radical act in spite of the suffering. And that is what makes it that much more powerful of a choice. I'll choose standing along with you and your love, always ❤️

Melissa and Dave's elopement atop Sugarbush had everything they wanted: an adventure up the mountain in a skicat with their closest family, a cozy lodge all to themselves for their self led ceremony, a privately catered dinner late into the night, and a late night ski down the mountain. What more could you ask for?
