The Hatch area has been extended down into the Duncan, Oklahoma area. Previously, the 10% hatch area was centered around Wichita Falls, Kansas, but has now been upgraded to include Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Norman, Paul's Valley, and Davis. The 5% hatch area has been extended down into the Cisco/Eastland, Texas area. I wouldn't be surprised to see supercell developments begin west of Haskell, pushing northeast around 6 p.m., based on previous similar events. Keep in mind that these reflectivity models are not always accurate. The one I'm showing is how a setup would appear most likely, and ONLY if the cap breaks.

As always, stay safe and be prepared. 🤠

Welp, it’s that time of year again. There appears to he a slight possibility for some severe weather in East Texas on Sunday.

In the meantime, I strongly advise anybody who is new to chasing to please educate themselves on safely tracking tornados and their behavior. Even if you think you know what you’re doing. It’s not a bad idea for you to relook over the things you’ve learned or learn something new. I’d consider myself a rookie storm chaser but I’ve probably spent more time reading than actually chasing. There’s plenty of us in the community and I’d be more than happy to give anybody tips and advice. But if you want to really learn from a wise man, look at Reed Timmer Extreme Meteorologist.

Why am I mentioning this? In light of the Valley View, Texas tornado last year that I narrowly escaped, I’ll admit that I didn’t plan my routes more carefully. I was coming back from southern Oklahoma from an earlier chase and nearly found myself in a potentially deadly situation. It’s a situation I don’t care to repeat and I will be looking make improvements on myself along the way.

Anyways, I hope everybody has a blessed day! And of course, be safe!

Some pictures from Azle, TX yesterday. Storm had a history of producing tornado’s and baseball sized hail. I raced from the Bowie area to get to the southwest of the circulation and got these pictures.
