They say “never look back” and it makes sense most of the time. Especially when you’re on a high-altitude trek: it is tempting to focus on your route and always look in front of you. But if you do just this, you might miss some great photo opportunities, like this shot of Ama Dablam that I made while on my way to Island Peak :) Everest region, Nepal, 2016

In the last remaining light we started our descent into the sea of clouds - somewhere down below along this ridge is our guest house where a heart-warming dinner awaits. In the next few days, we’d be going along this ridge several times to acclimatize and finally proceed with our trek. Langtang trek, Nepal, 2015

Only when you climb up into the thin air do you realize that the air down below is actually thick. It hides everything non-essential and exposes you to the true beauty of this world. This picture was taken at 4200 meters above sea level. Langtang, Nepal, 2015

Another foggy picture :) Iconic John Moulton’s barn shadowed by The Tetons. Tetons are not the tallest mountains I’ve been to (in fact, they’re not tall at all), but I was immediately impressed by how close and personal they are. You finish your morning coffee in a nice cafe in Jackson Hole, jump into the car, start driving, make a turn - and there they appear, unexpected, close and beautiful. Grand Tetons, Wyoming, USA, 2015

Expedition to Upper Mustang that I took part in totally blew my mind. It was a unique experience - total immersion into Tibetan culture. And landscapes in this remote region are totally different from the other places in Nepal that I’ve been to. There is only one similarity - they’re equally mind-blowing. Upper Mustang, Nepal, 2018

Beautiful Mt. Pumori that I captured while on the way to Kala Pattar. After settling in our guest house in the Lobuche villlage (which is located at the foot of Lobuche mountain) we went for an acclimatization and, while we were taking pictures, fog came in and covered the entire village! Our village is somewhere down that canyon. Nepal, 2016

My fellow group mates on the final steps to the acclimatisation point at 4200 meters above sea level. Idea behind active acclimatisation is that the altitude at which you sleep should be lower than the highest point that you were on that day (acclimatisation point). That particular point that we were on that day is one of the best photography locations I’ve ever been to. Hoping to get back at some point! Langtang trek, Nepal, 2015
