Just THREE spots remaining for The Childhood Event.

Current clients and newsletter subscribers had first dibs and all but one spot booked initially. I’ve added two more spots for Saturday August 29th and there is one spot remaining for September 12th.

The only thing I love more than a baby milestone session...is a baby milestone session where Mama jumps in for a few of the portraits with her baby!

I always try to encourage Mamas to jump in at the sitting milestone session. Usually by this point, we've found that mom has hundreds (if not thousands) of cell phone pictures of her baby and baby + dad, but very few (if any!) of her and baby that are worth framing.

So while we celebrate baby's sitting milestone, we're also celebrating with Mama with her baby.

This little chunky thing is a member of my Collective - that's a group of 3-4 sessions that covers baby's first year, up to 18 months. This family is working on a beautiful heirloom album over the course of their sessions. The album will hold all of their very favorite memories from his first year in a book that he, one day, will be able to share with his own children and grandchildren.

Can you imagine it?

The sitting milestone is easily my favorite age to photograph your baby. They’re no longer tiny newborns, but they’re not toddlers yet, either.

Their personalities are starting to bloom and their smiles are genuine. Their curiosity is endless. They still have
Baby cheeks.
Wispy curls.
Little hands reaching for everything.

She won’t remember this day. But one day…she’ll see these photographs. And she’ll know how completely she was loved and that before the memories faded…you chose to keep them.

One day you'll miss the little things.

The thumb they always tucked into their mouth when they were thinking. The way their hair refused to stay brushed. The freckles that appeared every summer. The crooked grin.

Heirloom: a valuable object handed down within a family across multiple generations.

Artwork: a creative creation, such as a painting, sculpture, or photograph.

Your child, photographed and preserved in the way they are today with artwork created for the generations beyond them.

I'm not exaggerating. How many of us have lost our grandparents (or parents) and now we cling to the printed photos that are all we have left of them?

Certain portraits stand the test of time and are just meant to be printed and treasured. Heirloom portraits are one of those types of portraits. It's a hill I will die on. But I also know that having the digital copies are important as well - for sharing with friends and loved ones on social media. So you'll get the best of both worlds.

A few quiet days at The Cloister, the sound of the ocean just steps away… and a baby on the way.

There’s a sweetness to this season — the waiting, the wondering, the way life feels both full and still just a little bit on pause.
