Congratulations to Felix Rosenqvist on his first Indianapolis 500 win! What an amazing race with 628 passes, 70 lead changes, 14 different drivers leading the race, and one wild final lap.

Standing on the front stretch I was able to see, feel and capture what I simply call “The Pass” and closest finish ever.

It’s neat to zoom in to see the crowd in various states of emotion and reaction.

Thanks again to BorgWarner for the opportunity and trusting me with capturing images this month.

Captured and delivered a lot of moments this past week at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, here are a few that stood out:

• Unexpected (and exciting) run-ins with friends and family
• Candid moments with drivers during group photos
• Reconnecting and talking shop with friends on a rainy Saturday
• Shooting cars coming straight at you at 220+ mph
• Time with the Borg-Warner Trophy, especially Dario’s likeness with the Yard of Bricks cutting through it
• A perfectly timed and lucky sun angle on Katherine Legge’s car at 230+ mph for that glint shot (first image)
• Capturing 33 new U.S. citizens and 250 individuals enlisting into our Armed Forces
• A unique riser perspective during qualifications
• Conor’s grandfather waving the green flag for his qualification run

As Johnny Cash said, “I’ve been everywhere.”

Last Tuesday and Wednesday were open test days for the IndyCar Series as teams prepare for the Indianapolis 500.

For those of us behind the scenes, it’s a great time to scout angles, test ideas, and build out visuals for the month of May.

Time with the Borg-Warner Trophy is always unique, you never quite know what you might see.

After covering behind the scenes of the previous winners’ photos (there are 14 Indy 500 wins between them), the Borg-Warner Trophy was moved into a production setup to create content for the lead up and broadcast. I had no idea prior of what to expect. When the door opened, I saw a dark, haze-filled room with studio lights cutting through the haze. I’m sure I let out an audible gasp of awe when I saw it.

While the production team worked, I had the opportunity to document the behind the scenes and utilize the environment to create something a little different. Some frames you see here were converted to black and white, others exactly as created. Other frames are different content created throughout the event.

A fun and busy time with over 17 miles covered on foot over two days (nearly 12 the first day) chasing moments like this.

A few of those moments.

Catching up on posts after an incredible start to spring.

From spring sports to prom and Gone Servin’, it’s been a season full of energy, moments, and stories.

Here are a few highlights, with plenty of other events I couldn’t fit. More to come as we head into May.

This weather has truly been “for the birds” 😀
Migration is in full effect—new arrivals almost daily.

Lately, I’ve been getting my steps in and keeping my skills sharp for the upcoming season, with a camera always ready.

There have been many stories behind every frame…
Spectacular sunrises, and even a quiet, fog-filled morning today.

This morning, just before sunrise, I walked a trail and found a heron walking the trail ahead of me. It made its way to the water, unaware I was there—letting me stand just 10 feet away.

Another day, I was photographing pelicans in the distance and got that feeling of being watched… only to look up and find a juvenile bald eagle about 20 feet above me.

Backroads have delivered too—like spotting a mature bald eagle perched in someone’s front yard tree.

Pelicans diving in unison for a snack and hanging out with gulls…
Following bald eagles along the Wabash River…
And one of my favorites—wood ducks tucked into rain-filled pockets in the woods. The males are stunning, but I think the females might be even better.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted—just wanted to catch up.
Hope everyone’s doing well and getting out to enjoy the change in seasons. More to come soon……..

The year is off to a promising start. On Sunday during my first photo shoot of 2026, I was able to check off a long-time bucket list item: photographing an owl in the wild. She spent most of the day resting, moving only occasionally, and it was a privilege to document her in her natural environment.

In addition to the barred owl, we saw and captured — distant bald eagles, a coyote, a “high-speed” gull, and several redhead ducks — a reminder of why I love the work I do and the patience it requires.

I’m looking forward to continuing to build on this momentum throughout the year.

What an incredible year — full of new opportunities! A few of the highlights:

• Indianapolis 500 for BorgWarner: Covered the Month of May and Alex Palou’s incredible win, capped by the unveiling of his likeness on the Borg-Warner Trophy in November.

• Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum: I was fortunate to get an early look at the reimagined museum before reopening. Photos from that shoot were published in Forbes, Racer, NUVO, and the 2025 Indianapolis 500 program.

• NCAA Regional for NUVO: A last-minute call-up to cover the regional that sent Houston to the Final Four.

• Parke County: Early morning chasing sunrise at Turkey Run and fall colors with multiple covered bridges.

• U.S. Nationals for NUVO: Friday night brought a brief (pun intended) scare when a funny car drifted toward the wall in front of us. Shoutout to in the stands for the quick text asking whether I needed a new pair of underwear 😂 — happily, all good on all fronts.

• Senior lifestyle session with Henry: An adventurous session with someone I’ve known since he was the CCHS ball kid and now a football player on the CCHS football team. We visited many of the places that shaped him — including going off-road for spots near fields and a pond — some incredible locations.

• Covenant Christian High School: My 16th year covering events and moments — an absolute privilege. Too many moments and photos to post here.

• Pacers: Covered the highs and lows over the last two seasons. Personal highlight: Haliburton’s late three over Giannis during last year’s incredible run.

• Personal projects: Astrophotography, Northern Lights, drone, landscapes, nature — and more.

Grateful for the moments, clients, people, and the opportunities to tell stories through images. Looking forward to new stories, new clients, and new challenges in 2026. 📸
