Quick reminder... If you go offroading often, especially with mud/water .. Drain your differential oil. Check for water, dirt and/or metal chunks in the oil.
If anything is abnormal, remove the cover, clean it with break cleaner (spray) and inspect the gears.
Dirt and water can get into your outter axle seals, then your inner axle seals and which then it gets into your pumpkin. it can cause damage to your gears (this is if your seals are going bad). It's an expensive repair, which is why you want to check it more often vs someone who does not go offroad.
If you have dirt/water in the oil but the gears are not damaged get your seals replaced asap.
FYI: diff oil smells bad... So that's normal.
Beginner tip: get a small strainer and let your oil run through it to catch any debris or metal chunks.
Happy wheeling!!!
