The Studio at Cedar Hill

The Studio at Cedar Hill I’m Debbie, lover of life & people. Showing you how AMAZING you are with heirloom art or albums. Empowerment Photography Education coming soon. YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

Let's capture the real you. Each person is different and to me, that is so incredible. Too often, we try to be someone we aren't, when in fact, you are the only one who can be the very best version of yourself. Showing people how beautiful they are is my goal. As the Founder of the worldwide group, Sparks of Kindness and facilitator of empowering workshops and retreats, it is very important to me

that you feel incredible after your portrait session....that you connect in a loving way with your family, remembering why you love each other so much....that you not only have beautiful portraits for a lifetime, but also realize the incredible inner qualities you have and remember that always. I love seeing that through my lens and seizing that moment for eternity. I'm Debbie McFarland. I opened The Memory Cottage in 1998, changed the name to The Studio at Daisy Hill and now my studio is called The Studio at Cedar HIll. I can't wait to hear all about you or your family and create gorgeous wall art or albums for you to cherish forever and ever. Help us change the world with love and kindness on FB at Sparks of Kindness. Ladies and girls, follow Restore to Soar on FB for upcoming life skills workshops that are so fun!!!

This summer for Girls 9-12!

There is something about this age. They aren't little girls anymore. but they aren't teenagers yet either.

They're standing in that in-between season where friendships start changing, confidence can begin to wobble and the world suddenly seems to have a lot of opinions about who they should be.

As a photographer and certified girl's empowerment leader, I've spent years listening to girls talk about themselves. I've seen girls as young as 9, 10, and 11 begin to compare themselves, doubt themselves, and wonder if they are enough.

That's why I created Bloom Your Own Way. Not just as a summer camp.

This is a place where girls can unplug from screens, create, laugh, build friendships, spend time in nature and be reminded of something so important:

They don't have to become someone else to be worthy....they already are.

We'll spend the week celebrating who they are right now! But.... it will be so much fun too! Creating art, picking flowers to make crowns and arranging bouquets, feeding horses, playing outdoor games and so many fun, nature activities, making friends, memories, and having lots of fun.

Underneath all of that is something even more important...helping girls see the beauty, value, strength, and uniqueness that is already inside them.

Because every girl deserves to know she is enough.

Only 14 spots are available in each session to keep the experience personal and meaningful.

If you have a daughter, granddaughter, niece or special girl in your life between the ages of 9 and 12, I'd love to have her join us this summer.

What a year it has been with this incredible group of girls.

Watching my Senior Dream Team graduate this week feels emotional in the very best way. Getting to know these girls over this past year has truly been such an honor. They are kind, faith-filled, encouraging, positive, uplifting, and the kind of girls who genuinely cheer one another on.

This year was filled with so many memories together... photo sessions throughout the year, our Savannah and beach trip, empowerment workshops, fun get-togethers, laughter, late night talks, and so many moments that brought these girls closer together.

One of my favorite things has been watching friendships form between girls from completely different schools and different walks of life... and now seeing them become such close friends. I truly believe these are the kinds of friendships that will last far beyond high school.

I have loved watching them support each other, grow in confidence, and simply be good to one another in a world that desperately needs more of that.

Girls... I am so proud of every single one of you. I cannot wait to see where life takes you next. I know with all my heart that each of you is going to make a beautiful difference in this world.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. You are so loved from The Studio at Cedar Hill

Watching my Senior Dream Team graduate this week feels emotional in the very best way. We missed having sweet Julianna here but she was here in spirit! Moms of girls ages 9-12…

So many moms at the Bloom Your Own Way Tween Empowerment Event asked the same thing:

“PLEASE tell me you’re doing a summer camp.”

So… we are.

And honestly, I could not be more excited about this.

The Bloom Your Own Way Summer Experience is a boutique summer experience designed to give girls something so many of them are needing right now…

A place to breathe.
To laugh.
To create.
To connect.
To step away from screens for a little while and just BE kids again.

A place where they can create art in the studio, participate in meaningful confidence-building empowerment workshops, make flower bouquets on the farm, plant and garden, feed the horses, enjoy a professional photo session, build genuine friendships, spend time in nature, and be reminded that they are valuable, capable, and amazing exactly as they are.

Because somewhere along the way, so many girls begin to lose that carefree sparkle they used to have.

The dancing through the kitchen.
The silliness.
The confidence to just be themselves without overthinking everything.

And I want to help create space for that joy again.

Throughout the week, the girls will experience:
• Art projects & creative workshops
• Confidence-building empowerment activities
• Flower farm activities & gardening
• Friendship & connection
• A professional photo session
• Nature, laughter, creativity & meaningful summer memories

Hosted here at The Studio at Cedar Hill, our portrait studio, flower farm Cedar Hill Flower Farm and art studio.

Choose one or both summer sessions:
June 15-19
July 20-24

And this summer experience is just the beginning…

In August, I’ll also be starting back our Tween Team, a monthly experience where girls can build real friendships, confidence, creativity, and connection through themed workshops, photo sessions, kindness projects and meaningful experiences together throughout the school year.

I have a feeling these spots are going to go quickly because I already have moms messaging about them. Send this to your friends with tween girls! Our girls need this!

I still remember photographing Reagan Copp as a baby. Then a toddler. Then a little girl with those long legs she hadn’t quite grown into yet, tripping over her own feet as she ran through the basement of my old studio that we had turned into a little preschool space for the kids.

She was always the sweetest soul! So caring and motherly, always making sure all the other kiddos were okay too.

And a few weeks ago, I was honored to photograph her wedding.

There are moments in life that make you stop for a second because your heart can hardly process how quickly time moves.

One minute, they are little kids laughing, playing dress up and then... they are standing in front of you in a wedding dress, looking at the love of their life with tears in their eyes.

I cried behind my camera more than once that day.

Not just because the wedding was beautiful, although it truly was, but because I could still see that same little girl in her eyes. The same tenderness. The same loving heart. Watching someone whose story you’ve photographed since she was a baby step into this new chapter is hard to put into words.

Reagan and Ryan… the way they looked at each other all day long. Quiet little smiles. Teary glances. Silly moments. Hands reaching for each other without even thinking. You could feel how deeply they love one another.

This day in particular..well, it felt like watching one of “my kids” begin a whole new life story. Photographing a wedding isn’t just documenting a day for me. I love looking for and capturing the raw emotions of the whole day.

And honestly… that’s the part of this job that will always mean the most to me.

If you know someone who recently got engaged and wants wedding photos that feel personal, emotional, and truly tell their story, send them my way.

For the Moms!
I held a workshop just for the moms who brought their girls to the Tween Empowerment Event on Sunday because somewhere along the way, I realized the moms needed this just as much.

The ones holding it all together.
The ones wondering if they’re doing it right.
The ones trying to navigate this shift ... when one minute their little girl is holding their hand, climbing into their lap, telling them they’re the best mommy in the world… and the next, it’s a slammed door, an eye roll with emotions all over the place.

We had close to 50 moms stay while their girls were in their various sessions.

For a little while… everything slowed down and moms could exhale.

They sat quietly while the birds chirped, horses in the distance… just a moment to be.

Reading words written just for them.
Not about what they need to fix.
Not about what they should be doing better.

But reminders.

You are doing a phenomenal job.
It’s okay to make a mistake and start over.
It is not too late for your dreams.
You are seen.

You could feel the emotion, the connection.

As moms, we are pouring everything into everyone else and rarely hear those words themselves.

They made little reminder cards to take home.
Something to hold onto on the hard days. Tape to the mirror, put next tot he bed, the dresser, place in the car.
Something to look at when the doors slam and the emotions run high.

I couldn’t help but think back to my own days with six kids at home when I would come home from working at the studio and closing the bathroom door and whispering, just give me five minutes.

Five minutes to cry.
Five minutes to breathe.
Five minutes to pull it back together before walking back out, putting a smile on my face.

That’s why this mattered.

Not just for the girls.
But for the moms who are right in the middle of it, doing better than they think they are. The Studio at Cedar Hill Cedar Hill Flower Farm Tween Empowerment - The Bloom Collective

You know your 9-12-year-old daughter is amazing.
You see her kindness. Her creativity. The little things that make her uniquely her.

But if you’re like most moms, you’ve probably noticed that somewhere between childhood and the teen years, confidence can start to wobble. Friendships get complicated. They begin to question themselves. And sometimes, the voice in their head isn’t nearly as encouraging as the one you have for them.

That’s why we created Tween Empowerment Day, a special experience designed just for girls ages 9 to 12.
This is not just an event. It is a day where girls are encouraged, celebrated, and reminded of who they are and how much they matter. Through uplifting speakers, a creative art project, photography, laughter, and meaningful connection, they will be poured into in ways that help them walk a little taller and believe in themselves a little more.

They will leave feeling seen. Valued. Strong. And deeply loved.

Join us on April 26, 2026 for the Bloom Your Own Way event. Lunch, empowering swag and all activities are included. Every detail is thoughtfully planned to create a safe, joy-filled space for your girl to grow.

If you have a daughter, granddaughter, or know a family with girls in this age range, please share this with them. These are the pivotal years that shape how they see themselves, and we would love to be part of encouraging them.

Spots are limited, so each girl receives a personal, meaningful experience.
Let’s remind them just how amazing they truly are.

Moms…what if there was a way to prepare your 9-12 year-old girls for those rough middle school years? What if you could teach them empowering tools for a rough day? What if you could show them that they are beautiful just the way they are? Maybe have someone else tell them instead of “just mom”. What if you could have someone remind them of their inner qualities instead of focusing on looks. Maybe tell them that their uniqueness is what makes them special and how to throw away the head trash.
Save a spot for your girl at the Annual Tween Empowerment Day!! Located at Cedar Hill Flower Farm, it will be a magical day!! This event is always sold-out, so save a spot for your special girl!
Please share with friends who have girls in this pivotal and tender age!
