YOU GO ON MUSICAL | August 28th, 2025 💜

Matt Gittins, a fellow alumnus, is the writer, composer, and lyricist for this new original musical. He has been developing this show for 10 years, and I had the pleasure of seeing it back in college when it was in its first stages. The musical focuses on a community of students, teachers, and families, as they cope with the aftermath of a recent school shooting.

I loved getting to witness and photograph in concert on August 28th. While it's a musical that deals with a heavy topic, the songs are moving, powerful, and still fun. I was very impressed by the performances from this group of actors, and I look forward to seeing where this show ends up next.

As of August 27th, 44 school shootings have already occurred this year. Let's hope for a day when students and families no longer have to worry about school shootings and their own safety.

Raise a glass to the talented performers, writers, directors, and creatives who shared their talents during Moments in Progress with 👏🏻

A month ago, I shared a few shots from this wonderful evening. There were so many great pieces showcased that night, and I look forward to following these new projects as they develop further. If you've never worked with Tectonic Theater Project before or are unfamiliar with their work, go check them out! They have classes through their Moment Work Institute that are perfect for creatives of all types. It was also just announced that their play will be heading to later this fall, with another appearance at in the new year. Congratulations, everyone! 🥳

Angelica, Eliza, and Allyn Faith Jones! Tell me the first image isn't giving vibes 🤩

Allyn brought so many fun looks to her headshot session! With these shots, she'd not only be seen as one of the Schuyler sisters in Hamilton, but she'd be a great fit for Jo March in Little Women as well. Other productions I could see her booking would be The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and The Prom. What roles do you think would be great for?

I love helping others further their careers by capturing photos that fit their brand and elevate their uniqueness. Griffin and I have shot together a couple different times, taking pictures for his acting career and personal training business. I always love working with repeat clients, and it brings me so much joy to hear I was able to make their photo experience great.

LUST - Written by

I was lucky to have the opportunity to witness and capture the beauty of this powerful piece. Lust, a one-act play written by Bess Wohl, was showcased during Moments in Progress, an evening of new works presented by 🌹 As an actor myself, I was blown away by the talent of all involved, and I left feeling inspired and hopeful for the future of theatre as a whole. I can't wait to share more photos from this beautiful evening soon.

What's in my bag? 🤔

I absolutely LOVE my bag from 😍 Traveling with my gear around NYC has never been made easier, and I wanted to share a few of the items I carry with me from shoot to shoot.

First off, we have two of my favorite lenses - the 70-200 mm and 24-70 mm 📸 I constantly use both for headshots, portraits, and theatre photography. They allow for a shallow depth of field, creating nice buttery backgrounds while still leaving the focus on the subject. They're also ideal as they allow you to shoot from farther back and don't distort the subject as much as wide-angle lenses do.

You'll see that I also carry a 50 mm lens. These can also work well for portraits and create buttery, soft backgrounds. However, the closer you get to the subject, the more their facial expressions will get distorted due to perspective distortion. I tend to use this lens for some lifestyle portraits or product photography.

Whenever I'm in an indoor, low-light situation, I'll usually break out my 430 EX II speedlite. It helps illuminate the areas that would otherwise be dark, and with a softbox attachment, like the one shown in the upper right-hand corner, it helps soften the light hitting the subject. You can remove the softbox to create harder, rigid light that can be more fun for tough, sporty shots.

In addition, you'll notice a trigger and receiver for my studio strobes (bottom right corner). One connects to my camera, while the other connects to one of my lights. Whenever the shutter is clicked on my camera, the lights will then flash and illuminate the subject similarly to my speedlite. I also make sure to carry extra batteries, SD cards, and microphones in case I want to capture a quick video or two. These are just a few of the items I make sure to pack whenever I'm getting ready for a photoshoot on location, and with my Wandrd bag, I can be sure I won't have to leave anything behind.

Is it hot in here, or is it just Griffin Cole? 🔥🥵

I couldn't be more ecstatic to share these shots 😍 Griffin and I had such a blast playing around in my Washington Heights studio. We even enjoyed some time outside shooting some sprints and hurdling at the Riverbank State Park Outdoor Running Track.
