I photographed a woman last year for a completely different reason. Nothing to do with her health. She just wanted something that felt entirely hers.

Months later she called me again, this time after a diagnosis, right before a mastectomy. She did not need new photos. The ones from our first session were already the before, and neither of us had known it at the time.

She tells me those are still the only pictures from that year she actually recognizes herself in.

Not every story moves forward that cleanly. One woman wrote to move quickly, mid treatment, unwilling to wait. Another wrote on behalf of her sister, who could not yet ask for herself. One told me her surgery date had just changed and she simply could not decide on anything right now, and thanked me for understanding.

All of it gets held the same way. There is no wrong time to reach out, and no obligation once you have.

Every piece in my studio closet gets picked for one reason: how it photographs, not how it looks on a hanger.

Lace does something different under studio light than it does in a dressing room mirror. Structure holds a silhouette a soft fabric never could. Color pulls attention exactly where it is supposed to go.

You do not have to own any of it. You just have to walk in and choose.
