This is where I come in: I capture your whole family with the intimacy of a relative and an award-winning eye. You do what you love. I bring my camera and create art out of your family’s connection.

About me:
I have a 20-year career in documentary and fine art photography, and approach family portraits with the same creativity and inventiveness that define my artistic work. I teach at the School of Visual Art, actively exhibit and publish my work, and am the recipient of numerous awards and grants.

What does a session look like you may ask? Well, there are several options:

Daily Life (2 hour session): I come to your home or meaningful location, and you do an activity that brings you joy. Some clients have family dance parties, others snuggle, while others re-create daily rituals—like kids pouncing on sleeping parents. I can capture as many scenarios as you’d like within the two hour timeframe. Sessions can be extended for an additional fee.

Mini Session (1/2 hour session): We meet in a beautiful location, and you do an activity that brings you joy. This is a condensed version of the “Daily Life” package, but only includes one outfit and activity. Sessions can be extended for an additional fee.

Baby's First Year (four 1/2 hr sessions):
The first year of life encompasses more development and change than any other. In these four mini-sessions, I will visualize the unique bond your family shares with your baby. This package ensures that all the fleeting phrases—from snuggly newborn, to daring crawler, delighted walker, to curious one year-old—will be properly recorded.

Vacation Sessions (1-3 days): I capture your family’s connection, excitement, and freedom from the daily grind. Attuned to your needs and privacy, I accompany your family for as many hours a day as you’d like, and capture you exploring new places and experiences. From hikes in the woods to swimming holes, horseback riding to water skiing, snow forts to fireside lounging, I create unforgettable images of your unforgettable experiences.

Momentous Occasions: From weddings to birthdays, births to last fair wells, I ensure that the biggest moments of your life are beautifully and tenderly recorded.

A few years ago I photographed Marilyn Sokol, an actor from Sesame Street and the Muppet Movies. I'm not easily starstruck, but Sesame Street was a fixture from my childhood and Marilyn has an aurora that turns heads and commands respect.

She called a few weeks ago asking if I could do some headshots and environmental portraits. We spent an afternoon in her Manhattan apartment, and I got to photograph her sparkle. This is my favorite. I asked what role she wants to land next, and she answered, "Detective." I look forward to seeing that goal manifest.

I can easily make day trips from NYC or Boston. I'm also up for more extensive travel, depending on your needs.

Clients receive: 500+ high resolution images for download, five 13x19” archival prints, and five 8.5x11” archival prints of whichever images you choose.

Lots of parents complain that their children move too quickly to photograph them. I wholeheartedly disagree. It's their spontaneity, their inventiveness, their un-posable fast moving play that inspires me, and the moments I record are authentic.
