What was supposed to be a rainy Philadelphia afternoon turned into a gorgeously moody geese-filled celebration of two people who have a long-established love and companionship.

Some of my favorite moments from Liz & Nick’s day include:
-Gorgeous florals by Liz’s dear friend
-My friend and former client, Jen officiating the ceremony
-Portraits amongst the trees where Nick & Liz regularly run
-Liz’s first look with friends
-Nick’s cross country students watching the ceremony from afar
-A group photo from across the river
-The Valley Green Inn’s utter sweetness
-Nick mid-reception outfit change

Clearly, it was a day that I adored, and this list could go on and on. All the weddings I’ve been to this year have been full of the absolute kindest people ever, and it held true for this celebration too.

Congratulations to the dearest Nick & Liz!

Where do I even begin to describe Sophie & Quinn’s wedding? Maybe by mentioning a bridesmaid who paid an Etsy witch to keep the rain at bay (it worked)! Maybe by saying some of their flowers were wildflowers they had picked from the side of the road. Perhaps by describing their ceremony exit included doing “the wave” that they tossed back to their officiant bestie.

No matter what part of the day or who was around, this was a couple who had surrounded themselves with people that were playful, caring, and kind. They really wanted to emphasize candid images and being present in their celebrations, which meant minimal posed portraits and a shorter than “standard” photo coverage. But their being in the moment and enjoying their loved ones wholeheartedly meant I had endless opportunities to capture the silly, open-hearted joy of the day.

Big congrats to S & Q! And thanks to this amazing vendor team:

Liza & Jacob’s intimate afternoon wedding with their nearest & dearest. The day was thoughtful, sweet, and joyful from their private prayers to a ribbon send off and all the moments in between.

I love the personality of these images, the play you can feel from the guests, and the deep connection these two sweeties have.

Congratulations L & J!

Big thanks to .cecilia for associate shooting this one for me!

Grad photos from April with Sophia!

So many sessions these past weeks which means I am too overwhelmed with gorgeous people to pick a few photos to share. An attempt to remedy that with this sweet graduation session at the Arboretum and Gray Design Building.

One of the greatest gifts of my life the past few years has been watching my friends become mothers. Seeing their capacity to be brave, silly, and caring. To see them advocate for their children and for the world they want their children to inherit amazes me. All while making sure everyone is fed and happy. It has also given me a beautiful lens to view all the many women who mothered me and continue to do so (my mom, aunts, parent friends, teachers, etc). I’m so thankful for moms and mothering.

I’d love to help you celebrate a mom you love this mothers day; be it your mother, a loved one who is a new mother, or someone who has mothered you. Book a gifted session this week and mention this post to receive a Mother’s Day discount, because moms deserve all the photos of themselves with their loved ones.

Perhaps a hot take for a photographer, but one of my favorite things about photographing Kentucky weddings is how green they are!! It feels so fresh, springy, and quintessential home to me.

Clayton and Angela’s wedding in 2023 had that gorgeous greeny spring glow that I will never tire of. So fun to look back on these images from a few years back. And to daydream about the cake that Angela baked herself!

When I talked to Megan and Connor about their wedding timeline, they told me they wanted to spend as little of the day as possible taking photos. And by as little as possible, they requested ideally no more than 10 minutes of posed portraits! Candids all day long! A few years ago, this intimidated me. Despite being a documentary-leaning photographer, I, like many wedding photographers, like a shot list and want to guarantee the couple walks away with photos of themselves they love, which often means some direction is necessary.

What this wedding taught me was that posed portraits are great, but the freedom and extra time to be in the moment of the day can lead to just as rewarding photos. I love the blend of documentary and traditional photography I do most often at weddings, but I also fantasize about a wedding where I show up with my camera and absolutely no timeline or must-get-shot list. Documentary, observation, and guest with a camera vibes from start to finish. If this sounds like your jam, I’d love to give it a whirl.

Grateful to M & C for bringing me all the way to Rhode Island for their wedding in 2023, and for trusting me to document the essence of the day with as little direction as possible.

Last week Chris took Niki back to the place of their first date, . Tucked behind a potted plant, I watched as Chris got down on one knee to propose. Niki said yes!

We spent a few minutes to take couple portraits of around the restaurant courtyard before they went off to a family dinner. Grateful for the trust to document these life changing and intimate moments! Congrats C + N!

Just taking a wee stroll down memory lane this week. Revisiting some favorites over the last few years. One wedding that just felt like such a perfect fit in 2021 was Michaela& Dillon’s two-part celebration. It started with an intimate, low-key ceremony and dinner in a loved one’s backyard in Hopkinsville. Then the next weekend they partied with their closest friends and family at Al’s Bar in Lexington. It was intentional, cozy, candid, laid back, and so fun.
