Some of my favorite unprompted moments of Kayla & Micah’s wedding last summer. When you let emotion and joy take first priority, every image feels significant.

What to say about these two and their day? It was stunning. They are lovely. Their family is the sweetest. The Sanctuary is a dream of light. Portraits in this space made my jaw drop. Working as a second shooter for Ayna Lorenzo is one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday.

That’s what there is to say. I’ll let these portraits do the rest of the talking.

Maternity photos followed by a newborn session has become a favorite combo lately. I’m enjoying this so much I now offer bundle pricing for expecting families who want photos before and after baby arrives.

Caroline & Zach opted for a studio maternity session and an at-home newborn session. The studio session was a bit more styled, while home was more slice of life and relaxed. A perfect pairing to commemorate this time of change in their growing family.

Rollins Studio is opening a studio!

When I named my business in 2018, I ironically didn’t envision I’d open a physical studio. I mostly liked the sound of the name, and felt it gave me some room to evolve as a company and artist. But lo and behold, I’ve fallen quite in love with studio work over the last two years. Starting this fall, I’ll be operating my own studio space!

The space is currently wrapping up construction, but let’s just say it’s gonna be gorgeous! The building is one I’ve been drooling over for ages, and the crew sharing the building is serendipitously comprised of some of my favorite people in town.

So here’s the deal: I want to take your picture in my beautiful new space starting in October. Headshots, family, maternity, couples, or photos just because you’re feeling cute! Let’s do them all!

How should I celebrate this? Mini session day? Extended sessions? Discounted prints? Big party? What would you be most excited by?

More info to come, but if you’ve been waiting to get in the studio, let’s make it happen!

A long while ago I heard “all photographs are self-portraits”. It’s stuck with me as I photograph weddings, families, celebrations, and gatherings. It makes me think about how who I am relates to the galleries I send out of other people. The photographer is inherently part of the experience guests are having. So who am I? And who am I behind the camera? And how does that show up in the images I make?

I like to think I’m a little whimsical and quite sociable. I can hang out in a crowd or sit on my own happily. I love to dance, to eat, to pet a dog, to be around children, to hug the ones I love. The truest photographs I take have a little bit of all that wrapped up into them.

This set of black& white images are some of my favorite “self-portraits” of the year so far. And what a joyful year of photography it has been

I always ask wedding clients what they are most excited to see in their gallery. More often than not, “candids” is a top priority. When a client says this is of the utmost importance to them, I know I’ll likely be a good photographer for their day.

As documentary photography has gained a lot of buzz, candids have become more requested, and for good reason! These photos feel the most authentic. They involve the least direction and the most comfort for the subject. I see candids are the essential piece to fully capturing the feeling of the day.

In my experience, the best candids require patience, awareness of group dynamics and personalities, and a willingness to make mistakes. You also need clients who are willing to trust you, give you the space to observe, and the time to be comfortable with your loved ones.

I’m forever grateful and excited by clients who get this. Who want to live fully in their celebration and trust I’ll be there to document it all. One such couple this year was Sophie & Quinn. Here’s a few of my favorites from their day that make me smile and take me straight back to May.

I love family sessions where little ones can be themselves, smiles aren’t required, play is encouraged, maybe a few dance moves are shown, and there is certainly a lot of laughter. I also love a multigenerational family session. With this crew we took a number of full group photos, but then made sure every smaller unit (siblings, immediate family, significant others, aunts, grandparents, etc) got a few snaps together. With this there was always someone to encourage, crack a joke, or hold a baby. It never felt stiff or forced, more like I got to join a really great group for an hour as we walked through the Arboretum.

Books are always open for family sessions that feel like this!
