Clay Williams, the Brooklyn-based photographer and blogger known online as UltraClay, shoots and writes about food, drink, restaurants and events. Food/Work, his ongoing project, takes a behind the scenes look at the process and the people that get food to our plates, from farm to abattoir to markets to the kitchens of restaurants and food trucks around the world. Clay's work has been published in many fine publications, including The New York Times, Travel + Leisure, Edible Brooklyn, Zagat and Serious Eats.

Sending my love and condolences to Fasicka and the whole Smoke'N Ash BBQ 🇺🇸🇪🇹 Tex-Ethiopian Smokehouse family after the recent loss of Patrick Hicks. Meeting Fasicka and Patrick and being able to include them in my American Smoke story for Food & W**e earlier this year was a privilege. They were so warm and welcoming and I’m grateful to have met them. Rest in Peace, Patrick.

I was deeply annoyed when I stumbled on the San Genarro Festival a few weeks ago, as I was trying to get crosstown and roughly a thousand people were in my way. But, I did go back a couple days later to make sure I got an Italian sausage, a long time ritual from summer fairs in New York. I only found out about the Pork Braciole afterward, so will have to try it next year.

Went back to the old neighborhood to photograph the Travel + Leisure party with Anthony Ramos at his spot, Milly’s Neighborhood Bar. Such a wonderful evening. I’ll be back for the chopped cheese egg rolls and one of the cocktails by Lynnette Marrero ..

My latest assignment for The Washington Post took me to SoHo where RYE BY MARTIN AUER is courting controversy with its pricey bread.

This was my first shoot for WaPo in a while and I’m so happy that it was for a story by Elazar Sontag! Many thanks to photo editor Toni Sandys for bringing me in on this.

When I met Camari Mick five years ago, she was making savory ice cream and other desserts that went far beyond expectations. It’s been so wonderful to watch her journey in the years since. Her new restaurant, Calabash NY opens next month and I can’t wait to try it.

Early mornings, gorgeous light, many, many recipes, and a newborn baby(!) marked the first week of shooting for Kiki Aranita’s cookbook. We break til next month when we wrap it all up, but looking through what we’ve done so far, I’m very proud of what we’ve put together so far.
