The many falls of Wallace Falls State Park in Washington State.

The canyons and mountains surrounding this state park were unreal, only trumped by how much vegetation filled and covered them! If not for the river carving out its path through the valleys I doubt you'd be able to even see it. The falls were at a full tilt with it being the middle of May. We made it to the three different falls and were about 3/4 of the way out when it started to ran. After bootscooting to the parking lot, we arrived just in time for the HAIL to show up. Having just driven through snow on Steves pass, this made 3 different kinds of precipitation in just a few hours.

"Falling for the Palouse"
A result of a cataclysmic glacier outburst flood from Glacial Lake Missoula, this 200 ft waterfall sits in a 377 ft deep canyon it helped carve. The rolling hills surrounding this canyon were formed by wind blown silt settling in the multiple periods where the Glacial Ices retreated, pilling up on the basalt bedrook left scoured by the glaciers. This fertile soil lends this region potent for agriculture, leading to the rolling rich fields.
Such a cool area a geolgy and I look forward to exploring it more in the future.

A belated birthday to Glacier National Park with a post of my favorite shots from the park and surrounding area.
