I ran back by Elizabethton Municipal Airport Monday morning to see if the Skycrane was going to be flying out. Found out it was not going to be going anywhere until the end of November. It is being stationed in Elizabethton for the next month to be on call to deal with any nearby forest fires.

While I was there, several aircraft took to the skies for some early morning flights.

I saw this 1968 Sikorsky CH-54A Tarhe (S-64 Skycrane) heavy-lift helicopter operated by Siller Helicopters heading my direction Sunday afternoon. I jumped in my car and ran to Elizabethton Municpal Airport (OA9) as quickly as I could. I arrived just a few minutes after it landed. The airport was already in shadows, but the surrounding hills were still illuminated in sunlight. Watched the Skycrane shut down and took some photos of it as the crew shut it down for the night.

I just released a new video on my Aerowephile YouTube channel of this Douglas A-26B Invader's smoky startup at Tri-Cities Airport. Due to FB limiting outside links posted to "Commerical" pages, I can't put the link in this post. So head on over to YouTube and look up Aerowephile. I've got the A-26B Invader video and 815 more aviation videos over there for you to watch. Go check it out!

Saw a Hercules on my radar app dropping into Tri-Cities Airport. I made a dash over to TRI to catch this U.S. Air Force AC-130J Hercules (GHOST71, 18-5913) working the pattern. Typically, Hercules make a couple of touch-and-go passes and then move on. Not today! This gunship Hercules made well over a dozen touch-and-go passes. This long visit allowed me to change locations multiple times and get pictures and video from all around TRI. Look for a loooong gunship Hercules video on my Aerowephile YouTube channel in the near future!
