The unexpected parts of owning a business that nobody talks about…

I walked into my studio today and found it FLOODED. 😭

And for a moment, I just stood there thinking, How are we going to make this work?

Thank God for my husband and Krystal, who immediately jumped into action. And thank God for a husband who knew I needed a small minute to cry before I could jump into problem-solving mode. 😂

Because sometimes, as a business owner, you don’t need someone to tell you to “stay positive.” You just need a minute to feel the disappointment… and then you get back up.

Our clients never saw what had surprised us behind the scenes.

We pivoted.
We cleaned.
We rearranged.
We improvised.
We kept going.

And somehow, we made it work.

We got through our busy weekend, served our clients, and kept creating the experience we wanted them to have—even when the experience behind the scenes looked NOTHING like what we had planned.

Then one of our clients left and said:

“This was a great experience.”

And honestly? That felt like a huge relief. 🥹

Because that’s the part of business people don’t always see.

Sometimes success isn’t everything going according to plan.

Sometimes success is getting hit with the unexpected, crying for a minute, pivoting, and still showing up with excellence.

Behind every beautiful photo can be a whole story you never knew was happening. ❤️

We could’ve just put the baby in front of a cake… but where’s the fun in that? 🎂✨

A cake smash session starts long before the cake makes its grand entrance.

It starts with an idea.

Then comes the planning, choosing the colors, finding the right details, setting up the backdrop, arranging the props, moving things around, stepping back, looking again… and then moving something one more time. 😂

Because the goal isn’t just to take pictures of a baby eating cake.

We’re creating a little world around them that matches their personality, their milestone, and the vision we have for their gallery.

And honestly? Watching it all come together is one of our favorite parts. 🤍

The final photos may look effortless, but there’s a whole creative process happening behind the scenes.

This is the part you don’t always see.

The planning. The creativity. The patience. The tiny details.

And then… we bring in the baby and let the beautiful chaos begin. 🎂😂
