Really pleased to announce that my image, "Vaulted" earned a "Merit" distinction from a panel of judges during the October 2026 Professional Photographers of America Merit Image Review process! I took this image at the large church (Hallgrimskirkja) in Reykjavik, Iceland during my trip over there in April for the World Photographic Cup. It is the largest church, and the 2nd tallest building in Iceland.

I'm hoping to tap into the collective knowledge and experience of my friends, fellow artists, and the local arts community!

After many years of working professionally in photography, I've been thinking a lot about where I want to take my creative work next, particularly in the areas of dance, movement, and fine-art photography.

Through my longtime relationships with several major arts organizations in West Virginia, I've had the privilege of photographing some incredibly talented performers. Those experiences have inspired a number of creative ideas I'd love to explore further, particularly involving experimental lighting, projections, and capturing the human form in motion.

At the same time, photographing live performances presents some unique technical challenges. Rapid movement, constantly changing and often difficult stage lighting, and the need to work quietly and unobtrusively can make capturing those fleeting moments particularly demanding. I'm always looking for ways to push past those limitations, both technically and creatively.

I'm now looking into ways to fund the next chapter of that work.

A major part of this would involve acquiring a Sony a9III camera, whose global shutter technology offers some exciting possibilities for overcoming certain lighting challenges, working with high-speed movement, and exploring new creative techniques. Between the camera and additional creative equipment, I'm hoping to secure approximately $10,000 in funding.

And that's where I'm hoping some of you might be able to point me in the right direction!

I'm researching grants, artist fellowships, corporate sponsorships, arts partnerships, and other funding opportunities that might support an established working artist looking to expand into new creative territory.

I'm especially interested in opportunities that support individual artists, photography, the performing arts, or collaborative projects with nonprofit arts organizations.

*To be clear, I'm not asking for donations or starting a fundraiser.* I'm looking for information, advice, connections, and perhaps opportunities I haven't even considered.

If you've successfully pursued arts funding, work with a foundation or grantmaking organization, know someone who does, or have ideas about where I might look, I'd really appreciate hearing from you!

Feel free to comment, message me privately, or share this with someone who might be able to help.

Thanks in advance! I'm excited about the possibilities and would love to find a way to bring some of these ideas to life.
