Behold, the Sea

I recently put together my first zine/mini-photo book. The work is compiled of 19 b&w 35mm images taken while on a charter boat in Brewster, Ma.

Brewster and the water has always been close to my heart, as these two places have provided me with a certain level of comfort and calm that I cannot quite describe. This sanctuary has been constant and consistent -- a dependable safe space to catch my breath and regroup. So it is apropos that my first printed piece takes place here.

When we set out, I was not intending to create work. I thought I might take a few photos in between casting and catching fish, but upon hitting the water, my plan was immediately shattered. I barely fished. I shot for five hours. It is rather difficult to avoid taking photos when all you can see is the sun rising beyond the horizon, and all you can hear is the summer tide gently rocking to and fro. The pieces fit together too perfectly.

I am very proud of this little book and remember that day fondly. The work is near and dear to me, for so many reasons, and I hope you find value in the images presented. If anyone has an interest in receiving a physical copy of the book, feel free to DM or email. Enjoy!
