The image below was taken on 11-30-2024 at 35°17'04.9"N 82°49'41.7"W near the Daniel Ridge Falls Parking area in Pisgah Forest, NC.

The creek bed
and surrounding forest here were decimated
by Hurricane Helene. A lot of topsoil was washed away, exposing the bedrock and borders under the soil. It is a surreal landscape and just one example of how much damage water can do to the landscape. But still, there is a
beauty here that I hope I captured.

It doesn't feel right to say "Happy Memorial Day". To me, this day is a sobering reminder of the price that was paid for my freedom.

Unlike Veterans Day, today is about those who didn't come home. Those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Today I honor our fallen brothers and sisters who gave all by reflecting on their sacrifice and by pledging to never let a tyrannical government steal what was built on the blood of Patriots.
