Instead, I’m here in my little home up-leveling my business (in a bit of a different way) from my closet office. & I’m grateful for it.

What a PIVOTAL time we are in right now.
Hear me out: I believe in higher education. I mean, I went to school & got my bachelors degree, so obviously I value it. But you know what I don’t believe in? Getting a job solely because of it’s “safety” and “reliability.”
(are you rolling your eyes at the adolescent dreamer in me yet???)

It’s no secret that being an entrepreneur, nonetheless a CREATIVE is a slow climb to success with no base salary or promise of a paycheck. It requires full reliance on those who patronize you, directly. It’s a route that has been known to be risky for generations upon generations for its lack of ability to provide the American Dream.
Our whole reality is changing. My career as a self-employed wedding photographer has shown to be no less reliable than a tech start-up in the city with the highest market in the United States right now. Is that scary? Sure. Is it also LIBERATING as hell! Yes.
As the grind of the 9-5 work week with a smoggy commute begins to lose it’s shiny appeal, the standards of a normal & stable life is being challenged & what we once knew as the American Dream is being forced to adapt with the changing times, finally.
I’m not saying it’s time for everyone to jump in & start their own business, I’m just saying that before you rush back to your old “normal”, consider what truly constitutes as normal in the first place & why you want such a “normal” life, if stability no longer exists the way we might have thought it did all this time. Were the seemingly desirable careers, just a false sense of severity?
Maybe, just maybe, it took a time of utter scarcity to awaken us to life’s true abundance.

Please, my friend. Stop holding yourself back. Do the thing. Even just one of the things even if it’s small. You’ll be uncomfortable but growth is not comfortable.

Mine is expanding my offerings beyond photography. Yep. & I’m in the works of it right now. I’m an entrepreneur at heart & I need to fully step into that. It feels like swimming upstream with a blindfold on. (Birdbox style?) lol

It’s Lizzie + Justin’s 1 year anniversary!!! & I couldn’t think of better photos to share from their day in honor of what we’re all doing tonight because SHELTER IN PLACE 4EVER. This couple & their friends will always hold such a special place in my heart. I still feel so lucky to have been able to be there in their day & capture so much love, emotion and fun!

Let me explain. From shooting over 100 weddings now, I have been enlightened with what it means to “capture the moment.” My style + approach has evolved with my experience.

One of the most valuable things I continue to do is work for others & second shoot. I’m never too good to be the second shooter & with that, I have learned SO MUCH. (So many AMAZING take aways) but also, things I have made note of NOT to do. I’ve been able to work alongside others & have seen a ton of directing. As in: “stand right there, do this, look this way, look at each other, say this, laugh at each other” (yeah for real) in moments that should be the most special😔 & while DUH those are super cute photos + totally worthy of The ‘Gram, it’s fake as f**k.

When it’s a moment with your mom helping you get your dress on, I’m going to make sure you guys are set up in a photogenic spot in the room, with nice lighting & ensure that I stand at a good angle. Other than that, the rest is YOU.

From there, I just document the love & the emotion of what’s happening in the moment. I’m not going to tell you to do any specific corny thing unless you particularly ask me to do so.

Not all wedding days, couples & families are the same & I’m not here to portray it to be such. I’m here to tell the story of your day through photographs, the way that it happens.

2019 was the biggest, most successful & best year of my life so far. ✨
I want to give the biggest thank you to all of the wonderful people that I tagged in this photo. You’ve played such an important role in my growth this year in my business. I was so incredibly lucky to have a tribe of people to teach me, support me, have my back & save my ass at times.

My year was stressful but amazing. Fun but disciplined. Hard work but rewarding. I was chosen by so many couples & families this year to capture some of their most important moments & I don’t take it for granted one bit. Thank you to all of you have invested your hard earned money on my work.+ for trusting me to document moments that were oh so fleeting.

To all those people + everyone following along here on Instagram (yes, YOU reading this) I couldn’t make this passion of mine my full time career without you & for that I am eternally grateful.

When your day is over & your photos are given to you, I think it’ll be evident what the most important details were. The most important details of your day are the people who are there with you, by your side, helping you, cheering you on. The smallest little moments become the biggest. These moments deserved to be captured. These moments are what you pay the big bucks for. These moments are priceless.
