Mom and Dad dropped the kids at DIA to go see Grandmom and Granddad, then pointed the car west toward Las Vegas.

First stop: Las Vegas, New Mexico. Because why not.

We took our time getting there, breaking up the drive with a hike and cruising a stretch of Route 66. We stayed at the Americana along the way, which came with robes and a disco ball in the corner of the room.

Once we made it to the real Las Vegas, we met up with Seth and Michael a few times for dinner and had our best LV pool day yet. Dad worked the furniture market one day, and we caught a Las Vegas Aviators game, the Athletics' Triple-A club. We also saw The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere. Second time in that place and we loved it just as much.

There was a lot of walking. We each cleared 20,000 steps one day. There was also a lot of heat. The thermometer read 122 our first day in town.

An awesome trip, full of adventures and time with the people we love.

Summer in Breckenridge has been treating us right.

Mom and Dad got out on the town, and modeling the Monika Sleeper Sofa. Liam and Dad racked up some pool, grabbed a bite, and cruised around in the Jeep. Laken and her friend Indigo spent time at our local animal shelter reading books to the animals, which was every bit as sweet as it sounds. We also caught Toy Story 5 with them and had a blast. And of course Laken got out adventuring with us on her dirt bike.

Good people, amazing weather, and a whole lot of blue sky. Hope your summer is going just as well.

Laken turned 13! She is officially a teenager now. We kept it close to home this year and made it special. One of the highlights was her time at the Summit County Animal Shelter, where she spent the afternoon reading to the dogs and cats.

We wrapped up the celebration back at the house with time outside by the fire, which was the perfect way to end a big day. Happy 13th birthday, Laken. We are so proud of the kind, big-hearted young lady you are growing into.

A few wildlife shots from our spot in Breckenridge at 10,500'. Shasta, our K9 friend, made it into a couple too. The snow is nearly all gone and we just swapped in our summer tires. Moose, foxes, coyotes. A few more days of school and summer officially begins!

One of the biggest perks of living in a dark sky community is simply looking up and watching the stars move across the sky. The night views here never get old.

Fun fact… I had to set the camera on top of the car because our curious fox visitors kept interfering with the setup.

Mountain life at its finest.

We captured this night sky timelapse from our home in Breckenridge, Colorado at 10,500’, and the wildlife made it even more memorable. Our curious foxes kept...

Big milestones at the house in Breckenridge, CO 🏔️

This update opens with the asphalt driveway fully paved, including two parking spots for the ADU. Inside, painters are finishing the entry, mudroom, and laundry, with final touches around the windows. There’s a great view from the kitchen side window looking out to the driveway — and even a surprise rainbow looking down the street on a hazy day.

Outside, the whole family jumped in to keep things moving. We continued shaping the dry river bed and rock runoff areas, with Liam and his friend Trip helping harvest rocks while Dad placed some of the final stone out back. Mom planted tulips near the entry, and we documented seeding the entire property as part of our CO prep — a mix of dense grass between the homes and native grasses and wildflowers everywhere else.

We also met Xfinity on site to get the home tied into their network (ladder + harness required), and inside you’ll spot Silent Jay and Bob installing kitchen hardware while painters wrapped up final coats in the ADU.

It’s starting to feel very real — and we’re getting close.
