One of the biggest perks of living in a dark sky community is simply looking up and watching the stars move across the sky. The night views here never get old.

Fun fact… I had to set the camera on top of the car because our curious fox visitors kept interfering with the setup.

Mountain life at its finest.

We captured this night sky timelapse from our home in Breckenridge, Colorado at 10,500’, and the wildlife made it even more memorable. Our curious foxes kept...

Big milestones at the house in Breckenridge, CO 🏔️

This update opens with the asphalt driveway fully paved, including two parking spots for the ADU. Inside, painters are finishing the entry, mudroom, and laundry, with final touches around the windows. There’s a great view from the kitchen side window looking out to the driveway — and even a surprise rainbow looking down the street on a hazy day.

Outside, the whole family jumped in to keep things moving. We continued shaping the dry river bed and rock runoff areas, with Liam and his friend Trip helping harvest rocks while Dad placed some of the final stone out back. Mom planted tulips near the entry, and we documented seeding the entire property as part of our CO prep — a mix of dense grass between the homes and native grasses and wildflowers everywhere else.

We also met Xfinity on site to get the home tied into their network (ladder + harness required), and inside you’ll spot Silent Jay and Bob installing kitchen hardware while painters wrapped up final coats in the ADU.

It’s starting to feel very real — and we’re getting close.

Big progress at the house in Breckenridge, CO 🏔️

The family was all on site for this one. Behind the house, Tina, Liam, and Laken helped prep for seed, shape a dry river bed, and place rocks to help manage snow and roof runoff. It’s been great having everyone pitching in as the exterior details start to take shape.

Inside, Denver Glass Interiors installed the glass shower doors, which instantly made the bathrooms feel finished. Electrical work continued throughout the home with outlets, switches, recessed lighting, and breaker tie-ins moving forward. On the deck, heaters were installed outside the master bedroom — a spot we’re really looking forward to using in the winter to watch wildlife out back.

Outside, Justin from Summit Digs continued bringing in topsoil and wrapping up rock work around the ADU, while the driveway was layered with road base in preparation for asphalt. Tile work in the ADU kept moving forward as well, with grout going into the kitchen backsplash and large-format bathroom tile.

You’ll also catch moments with the whole crew — Tina in front of a massive slash pile from fire mitigation, Liam checking out the lower-level shower that will serve as Dad’s office suite, painters finishing the entryway and garage, and our first look at the modern kitchen chandelier. Other highlights include a new garage sink, a separate hot/cold hose bib, first views into the crawl space, and trenches dug for the whole-home generator.

So much progress in this episode!

The hardwood floors from Vantina Hardwoods (Frisco) were installed by Mike & Emily at Through the Woods (Alma) — they did an incredible job. The floors were quickly covered with protective paper as painting continued, but it was awesome seeing them installed.

Our solid pine doors were stained a light color to really show off their horizontal grain, and countertops went in at the ADU, with Laken on site to give her approval. Radek and the team at Summit Tile kept things moving with beautiful hex tile in the entry and laundry, and kitchen tile is back on track after a small hiccup.

You’ll also spot Dad’s future wiring project (a mess for now), while Justin at Summit Digs continues grading the property. Outside, Mom and Liam worked on fire mitigation, piling up a massive stack of slash. Inside, Bill Ashley and Bruce were on site mocking up master bath lighting and mirrors — the floor-to-ceiling tile looks amazing.

Mid-60s and sunny all week made for some great progress. ☀️

Big progress at the house! Liam and Laken, were on site this round and got to see a ton of changes inside and out.

Outside, Justin from Summit Digs is busy grading the property and running both the sewer connection and gas line to the ADU. Rock walls are taking shape around the home, and we now have a dedicated parking spot along the side of the garage for a van or camper. The Generac generator also arrived — that one felt real!

Inside, work is moving fast: garage door installation, tile coming to life in both bathrooms, and more taping/mudding in the ADU (stilts and all). Up on the roof, the full metal system is now installed — a huge milestone for the build.

Our builder Bill Ashley and supervisor Bruce continue to keep everything moving smoothly. It’s incredible watching this place come together.

Construction is picking up speed in Breckenridge, CO! 🏔️

Lozano Concrete poured the garage floor while Garrett from Backcountry Mechanical tied in the radiant heat below. Rocky Mountain Cabinets delivered our kitchen cabinets — the first pieces are starting to find their place!

Inside, the drywall crew is up on stilts (still makes us nervous 😅) mudding and taping every wall. Outside, Justin from Summit Digs is extending the gas line and shaping the new boulder retaining wall. Manny and his framing crew wrapped up the TimberTech deck boards, and the garage doors are now installed with windows in place.

The ADU is moving fast — windows, siding, and the front door are all in. Garrett even makes another appearance, with his dog sprinting up the temporary ramp to the deck. Toward the end, Dad’s in the ADU mechanical room pulling low-voltage wiring while snow finally starts to melt after a long winter.

It’s a busy update and a big step toward the finish line — drywall, concrete, siding, and sunshine all in one week! ☀️

Big update from Breckenridge! 🏔️
The framers are making great progress on the ADU while insulation wraps up inside the main home. Tina caught some awesome footage of the crew pouring gypsum concrete (gypcrete) right over the radiant floor tubing — such a cool process to see in action.

Outside, our newly dug well was tapped for the first time, and the team started installing fascia, soffit, and accent wood siding. Inside, the drywall crew is now hanging sheets throughout both homes, and it’s really starting to feel like a livable space.

The weather’s been pretty kind — plenty of snow in the air but not much sticking — and the drone footage gives a great look at everything coming together.

After a rough spill in July, Laken’s back in the saddle and tearing up the trails again! 💙💪
We hit the Tiger Road OHV area after school here in Breckenridge, CO, where she put her Yamaha TTR125 through its paces under perfect blue skies. 🌄

The GoPro chest cam caught some awesome trail views — dust, mud, and that classic Colorado scenery we love.

Just Liam — a few recent moments, meals, and even an occasional smile caught on camera. 😄 From sushi and chocolate cake to Jeep washes and fall hikes, these little slices of life show more of his personality than words ever could.

So proud of the young man he’s becoming — quiet confidence, curious mind, and just enough humor to keep us laughing.

The ADU is really coming to life — walls and roof are up, and the main home is fully enclosed with crews working inside. 🏗️

Garrett from Backcountry Mechanical is setting up the radiant heat in the mechanical room, and The Foamers Inc. are spraying and trimming insulation (the house already feels warmer). Guthrie Electric has wires running everywhere — we even added a 60-amp line for a future hot tub and a 30-amp RV hookup for when Michael and Seth visit with their camper.

Blue skies, muddy roads, and what we’re calling our “second spring” in Breckenridge — progress looks amazing!
