It was just a few short weeks ago that we were doing our world-class Grand Tetons Masterclass. For the entire week, we endured smoke from the nearby "Patch Fire." Once in a while, we caught a break in the atmosphere, and I was able to capture the Fall Gold On the big bend of the Gros Ventre River. It was a joy to share time and learning with the masterclass students. Can't wait to go back in 2025.

Our masterclass worked most of their photography and art assignments in the back country of White Sands. We typically hiked in one to two miles to each of the areas where we found pristine and undisturbed sands. This image was shooting to the northwest from one of the tall playas that gave us a Vista view. This was made with a Google pixel 8 pro using the pro edit features. This minimalist, objective approach can enhance the visual message of simple landscapes by stripping away distractions and allowing viewers to focus on the raw, unadulterated beauty of the environment. Through its unembellished style, deadpan photography invites contemplation and viewers to find meaning and depth in the serene simplicity of the landscape, making it a powerful tool for conveying the subtle nuances of nature.

Badlands National Park Photography Masterclass

The Badlands National Park Masterclass also includes time in the remote Buffalo National Grasslands. In one of those locations, we do a perspective study from several vantage points, and then back in the post-production class, we explore different interpretations of the trees and sky. I've also used this tree many times to teach precision Mask selection techniques and the creative use of color approaches. AI created this image, Lone Tree with a Banana Cream Sky, for our photo workshop masterclass.
