After photographing Madelyn and Mason's wedding in 2022 and Kendell and Brock's in 2025, I got the whole Hildenbrand family together this October at Milford Mine Memorial Park near Crosby.

Nate and Debbie, both of their kids and their spouses, one-year-old Violet and two dogs. We started on the marsh boardwalk, then walked into the woods while the color was right at its peak. Violet ran the show, Bennie had his own ideas about sitting still, and Debbie laughed so hard with her kids that their eyes closed.

Amber and Don got married at Whitefish Lodge in Crosslake this September.

It started with a prank. Before Don got to see Amber at the first look, somebody else walked up behind him in a white dress and a veil, and Don lost it. When Amber came out for real a few minutes later, he was still laughing.

They got married on the back lawn under the trees, and Amber laughed so hard during the ring exchange that the officiant started laughing too. We spent some time down on a dock on the Whitefish Chain before dinner, and the night ended with the family dances, Don with his daughters and Amber with her son.

A twirl on the dock, with Maddie and Cody silhouetted against the evening sky.

We left Whitefish Lodge for this part of their portraits, stopping at the Corps of Engineers park and campground on Cross Lake. I kept the wide silhouette alongside the closer portraits so you can see both the setting and their expressions.

Abby and Anthony stopped halfway down the aisle for a dip and a kiss, and the people around them leaned out of the pews to applaud.

They married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crosby, where Anthony grew up, where his family is still active, and where I go to church, too. His godfather, Jim, officiated. I’ve photographed his sister Madeline’s wedding and his niece Isabelle’s wedding, so seeing this family gather around Abby and Anthony felt especially personal.

There was tenderness all through the day: Abby’s first look with her dad, a hand fastening her shoe, Anthony carrying the bouquet as they walked together through the leaves. At The Gathering in Crosslake, there were tears during a toast, two little girls kissing Abby’s cheeks, and parents holding their children close on the dance floor.

I gave them direction during portraits and watched for the little ways they settled in together. Those photographs belong alongside the laughter and embraces that happened on their own.

This one stayed with me. Maggie and Craig's first dance at Northern Pacific Center, the historic brick walls and layered chandeliers turning the room into something cinematic. Guests leaned in from both sides of the long tables to watch.

Katie & Brenden — a September wedding at Madden's on Gull Lake.

Katie and her bridesmaids spent the morning in the bridal suite at Madden's, sharing mimosas and a lot of laughing. What stays with me isn't any single frame — it's how the two of them were with each other all day, from the quiet morning through the last dance. Madden's on Gull Lake kept handing us light to catch it in; they did the rest.

Maddie and Cody came back down the aisle holding hands while their guests blew bubbles around them. It is the photograph I chose to open their Whitefish Lodge wedding story.

Earlier, Maddie’s dress hung against the stone fireplace beneath the mounted moose. There were portraits on the timber porch, flower girls scattering petals, and vows beneath a wooden arch on the lawn. For the evening portraits, we made a separate stop at the Corps of Engineers park and campground on Cross Lake. Then it was back to the lodge, where Maddie laughed while dancing with her dad.

My coverage brings documentary moments together with editorial portraits. I will help you get comfortable in front of the camera while leaving room for the people and conversations you came to celebrate.
