Hey guys, it's been quite a while since I've posted. I will be getting around to adding photos soon, but would like to mention that I'll be willing to start selling some of my newer pieces I have. If you or someone you know has a love for canvas and a specific animal, I can see how much it would to canvas my photos and sell them πŸ₯° I know Christmas is still 4 months away but you can never start too soon with shopping. Different sizes would vary the price and I'd get back to you on price for sizes and release of the photo on my end. Reach out to me anytime if you'd be interested! APD photography out πŸ’–πŸΎ

Let's say hello to the American Bison! The common name for these creatures is Buffalo. When you say buffalo it can be confusing as there are many types, many species residing in Africa.

I thought I'd bring to you a few facts about these creatures.

1. Bison can weight between 1000 to 2000 pounds! The males being larger which is typically uncommon as females of many animals are larger.

2. Bison are the largest mammal to roam North America! How awesome is that?

3. You can judge a bison's mood by its tail. When its down and swishing naturally, this indicates that the Bison is calm. If the bison's tail is standing straight up, this can mean danger as the bison is agitated or ready to charge.

4. The history of both bison and Native Americans are intertwined.

Lastly!

5. Yellowstone National Park is the only place in the United States where bison have continuously lived since prehistoric times 😱

So usually I post about the wildlife animals I take pictures of. Today I decided to post one of my favorite cats that is currently in my vet tech program. His name is Fisher but we call him Fish for short. This cat is super special to me as he reminds me of a childhood cat my great grandma owned named Taffy who was literally my best friend up until he passed away. I love Fisher and I hope you appreciate his soft kitty demeanor πŸ±πŸ’–πŸΎ

This photo was taken by my best friend Mitchell! The reason I'm posting this is because I want to share a giraffe fact with you all. Ever wonder why a giraffe's tongue is blue? Its actually an adaptation through evolution and acts as sunscreen for when they're eating leaves and foliage in Africa! They use these fascinating blue tongues that are rather long to rip off leaves from acacia trees for nutrition!

The more you know! πŸ˜‰πŸ¦’πŸΎ

"Everything the light touches is our kingdom. But a king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with you as the new king" πŸ’–πŸΎ Here is a lovely picture of Brutus/Titus (I'm not sure who is who), being majestic as any king should be!

These shots were taken of my favorite animal, the African Painted Dog, at Brookfield Zoo in September. The African Painted Dog is commonly mistaken as a Hyena, but there are some very important differences between the two. The first is the size of the ears. African painted dogs have large, close set ears similar to what we see in domesticated dogs. Hyenas have smaller further set ears. Second, African Painted Dogs are as unique as our fingerprints. Each member has a different coat pattern and individuals can be easily identified. Hyenas come in spotted or striped patterns, and as they are unique as well, they aren't as easily identified individually. Lastly, the structure of the African Painted Dog is similar to our domesticated dogs with equal stance on both their forelimbs and hindlimbs. For a Hyena, there forelimbs are actually longer than their hindlimbs, making them look as if they have a hunched posture.

Also fun fact - Hyenas are classified in the Felidae family or the family of cats! Isn't that quite interesting?

So I thought I start off with a classic animal from Brookfield Zoo. These are two Amur Leopards and can be found near the Desert Edge exhibit. This day they thought a little cat nap would be the best way to spend a nice Saturday afternoon. πŸ±πŸΎπŸ’–
