Here’s a shot in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado from last week using a technique called ICM, Intentional Camera Movement, where you use a slower shutter speed and intentionally move the camera during the exposure.

This is one of the creative techniques we will be studying during an upcoming photo workshop here next year with myself and Jim Nix Photography, September 30 - October 4, 2027.

This was photographed with my OM System OM-3 camera and the M.Zuiko 50-200mm f2.8 PRO lens. Camera settings were 0.6s at f18 at ISO 200 using a 6-stop solid ND filter from NiSi Filters USA. Processing in DxO PureRAW, Lightroom Classic, Luminar, and NIK Color Efex.

Here's a few photos from last week during my Mastering Black and White Photography in the Badlands photo workshop.

Next year I'll be leading my 7th b&w workshop there and registration just opened (details in the comments).

These photos are from my OM System OM-3 camera in monochrome mode. And while I was shooting RAW + JPG, these photos are all from the in-camera converted b&w JPG files, with some minor editing in Lightroom on most of them.

You don't always need the RAW file when you nail your exposure and tonal ranges with the JPG!

We had clear skies last night - the final night of my back-to-back sold out night sky photo workshops here in Badlands National Park, SD!

This was photographed with my OM System OM-3 ASTRO camera and the M.Zuiko 7-14mm f2.8 PRO lens. The sky was photographed with the Move Shoot Move tracker.

Here in the Badlands, we’ve had some cloudy/rainy nights for workshop group #2 and have pivoted to daytime shots. Tonight does look promising for night sky again though!

This was from last night, as the last bit of sunlight peaked through the clouds to give us some great light.
