Watched this hawk hunting in a field in Three Forks, MT for quite some time the other day. It was so cool the way it would catch currents of wind and appear to be floating. I never actually saw it catch anything though.

Not sure if it is a red tail or some other breed?

A small island on the north end of Ennis Lake in Montana. The rock standing up in the center of the island is called Diamond Rock.

To get this higher vantagepoint I had to climb up quite a steep embankment. I dragged two cameras and tripods up there and got a few different shots. It was rough to deal with in the dark but I think it was worth it. This was the first composition I got from that angle.

The sky in this one was made up of a stack of 21 images captured at f1.8, 8 seconds, & ISO 8000.

The foreground was a single exposure captured at f2.8, 180 seconds, & ISO 3200.

Stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker. Processed in Lightroom. Blended in Photoshop.

Came across the cutest Killdeer family the other day. It was the two parents and three chicks. They were all scurrying around on a gravel road out in Three Forks and they were making me so nervous because there were cars driving around.

I spent a few minutes photographing them and trying to get them off the road to no avail. Anyways here are a few shots of one of the youngins

Finally got back to check up on my little Burrowing Owl family and guess what? The owlets are out and about. Due to the distance from me and the fact that the grass is now longer it is really hard to get any quality shots but I thought I would post anyways since they are so darn cute.

As far as I can tell there are three babies but I couldn't ever get a shot with all three of them clearly in the shot at the same time. Pinch to zoom in as much as you can.
