This is your sign to do a first look.

Not because it’s trendy. Because it’s the only five minutes of your entire wedding day that belong to just the two of you.

I’ve seen couples get giddy, get nervous, go completely silent because there was nothing that needed to be said.

Those are the photographs people keep for the rest of their lives.

If you’re planning a wedding and can’t decide whether to do a first look, this is me gently nudging you to: do it.

Photographs meant to be lived with.

Summer has a funny way of making time feel slower and somehow, disappearing all at once.

The bare feet. The late evenings. The sticky popsicle fingers. The way kids seem to grow overnight.

One day, this season will be a memory.

B & R got engaged at their family’s place near Flathead Lake, surrounded only by the people closest to them.

Moments like this are exactly why I do this work. Not for the performance, but for the real moments.

If this is the kind of story you want documented. Quiet, true, and yours—I’d love to connect 🤍🫶🏾

It’s easy to think of these as “just the details.”

But they’re so much more than that.

They’re the earrings your grandmother gave you. The invitation you spent weeks designing. The flowers you dreamed about. The table where your favorite people gathered. The little pieces that made your wedding feel unmistakably yours.

Years from now, these photographs won’t just remind you what your day looked like but they’ll remind you what it felt like.

Because your story isn’t made up of only the big moments. It’s found in the little things, too.

Is this a safe place to admit that I still struggle with imposter syndrome?

I’ve been photographing for 11 years, and there are still days when I wonder if it’s something I’ll ever fully outgrow. My art is something I hold close to my chest, and in this wild place called the internet, there are moments when I wonder if I even want to share anymore. Does anyone else feel that way?

What keeps me showing up are the artists, creatives, and writers who choose vulnerability anyway.

And then there are moments like this one. My beautiful client, A, and her dad during their first look. A lifetime of memories in a few quiet moments. It’s intimate. Sacred.

I think moments like these remind me that art was never meant to stay hidden.

What is art that isn’t vulnerable and shared with like minded people?

So, if you’re a creative… do you ever feel this way? What keeps you creating? 🫶🏾
