A new chapter...... Today marks a new chapter in my photography life. I canceled my business license in Orange, California. Mostly because I haven't been generating revenue for the past couple of years and the expenses of keeping a small business open didnt make sense. I started this business almost 14 years ago as a way to keep me busy after my Land Surveying career. Never did I dream the amazing journey it would be. I started by just shooting local sports that most photographers were ignoring; rugby, equestrian, lacrosse, bmx and mountain bike racing and surfing. A blessed shot at the US Open of Surfing led to a 3 year on-call contact with a division of the Orange County Register that got me rock star access to Supercross, Speedway, XGames and a variety of other action sports. In between sports gigs, I worked on my portrait skills and developed a quirky style that didnt get me a lot of work but kept me happy. But little did I know that all of this was leading up to an opportunity to do something that really mattered; doing volunteer photography work for Calvary Chapel Magazine. It wasnt until I started doing assignments for the magazine that I understood how God was preparing me for the opportunity. Over the past 8 years or so, I have been blessed to capture images of God's work in 14 countries on 4 different continents. Some of the countries multiple times. I have been to some of the most remote and dangerous places on earth and met some of the most beautiful people I can imagine. Other than an early 2020 trip to Russia, Covid has kept me in the states this year and who knows when those restrictions may relax. Just because I am closing my photography business in California doesnt mean I will be sitting in my rocker on the porch any time soon. I still have my camera handy and am open to God's calling if need be. I am so thankful for many of you whom I may have never met had I not picked up a camera and pressed the little button thingie at the right time. I think you for your business and friendship. May God bless you all and never give up on your dreams!
