Instead of painting one illustration, I wanted to see if I could create a pattern.

I kept the strawberries simple, the blueberries loose, and focused on making everything feel light and playful. Now I'm already imagining all the different ways something like this could be used.

Postcards?
Notepads?
Stationery?
Gift wrap?

I'm still figuring that part out, but I think that's one of my favorite things about learning art. One painting can turn into so many different ideas.

Today's watercolor study: lemons. 🍋

The entire goal of this painting was to answer one question:

Can I paint a lemon that actually looks like a lemon?

I spent most of my time experimenting with light, shadows, and color. One of the coolest things I learned was using purple in the shadows instead of gray. It gave the painting so much more life than I expected.

Every study teaches me something, and this one definitely did.

There wasn't any grand plan behind this one. I sat down because I wanted to practice painting trees, work with different greens, and see if I could create more depth by making the foreground darker and the background lighter.

I learned a lot from this one.

It's funny how every finished painting teaches me something that staring at a blank sheet of paper never could.

✨ A little peek at what I’ve been painting lately…

Today’s watercolor practice turned into three very different little projects.

🕯️ A birthday card I painted so I can print copies for each of my students. I love the idea that every birthday deserves something handmade, even if it’s just a small reminder that someone was thinking of you.

🍓 A page of strawberries and blueberries that I’m already imagining as postcards, stationery, or maybe even greeting cards.

📚 And a colorful row of books because I needed an excuse to play with color and, let’s be honest… books make everything better.

I’m slowly building a collection of little paintings that I hope will someday find their way onto cards, prints, bookmarks, and other paper goodies.

Which one would you be most excited to see in the shop first? 🍓🕯️📚
