This elopement in the Colorado mountains with this couples and their dogs is one I will never forget. They contacted me just a few few weeks before they wanted to elope having just gotten the devastating news that their beloved dog had cancer. They knew they wanted him there for the day they got married so they canceled their big wedding and planned a last-minute elopement in the mountains instead. I was so happy I was able to give them an incredible day and also make sure all of it was memorialized in photos. Because at the end of the day, the memories and photos are sometimes all we have left.❤️❤️❤️

One of my favorite elopement photos I’ve ever taken was preceded by one of the funniest moments ever. This is a true story. I was taking photos of this gorgeous couple in Olympic national Park at the elopement when an older woman took one look at the Bride’s dress and said “it’s a shame about your dress.“Little did she know that for my adventure, elopement brides, dirty dresses are a thing to be proud of. A few hours later this magic happened and that dirty elopement dress turned my bride into an actual mermaid. I wish I could send this photo to that woman!😂😂 don’t be afraid to get your dress dirty at your elopement! You’re only going to wear it once!

Alexis and Chris and their two adorable pups Sadie and Scout came to Colorado from Ohio to get married in the mountains with a handful of their nearest and dearest. And it was a blast!

We started their day at the cutest little cabin where they were getting ready and then headed out to Twin Lakes for their ceremony. They got married right next to the lake and their pups signed the marriage license (of course!)! It was adorable!

After that we spent the rest of the evening exploring some of my favorite places and enjoying the beautiful mountain vibes. ✌️

J+J came out to Colorado from the East Coast for their elopement and man, they did it right!! They love to hike and after tossing around a bunch of ideas for their elopement, they decided on a hike that I hadn't done yet (but had been dying to do!) up to an alpine lake for sunrise. It was SO much fun experiencing this place for the first time together!

We met the trailhead at 1:30 and started hiking under an almost full moon. We made it to the lake with plenty of time to get ready (and also plenty of time to get cold while we waited for the sun to come up! lol!). Once the sun started peeking up over the horizon they got into their wedding clothes and it was go time!

They said their vows overlooking a beautiful blue lake with the mountains as a backdrop and we spent the rest of the morning exploring the basin, checking out the wildflowers, and having a picnic with one hell of a view. Their pup couldn't make the trip out but he was there in spirit in the form of a blanket with his face on it. It was the best!

Alexis and Trevor and their cutest little pup Bud (I mean, LOOK at that guy!!! I'm obsessed with him!😍) came to Colorado from Texas to get married and we celebrated by going on an adventure in one of my favorite places!

Alexis and Trevor technically got married the day before, surrounded by their family and friends, so this was just a fun celebration of their day and a chance to enjoy the mountains. And it was SO much fun!

We spent an evening exploring some forests, caves, and waterfalls, and then headed way up high to play in the snow and watch one of the most beautiful sunsets ever. Bud, obviously, came along for the whole adventure and he was the cutest little photobomber I've ever seen.

Yesterday's elopement felt like a dream and were it not for my super sore legs today, I'd be questioning if it even happened at all.

Absolutely epic in every sense of the word.

And before y'all fill my inbox with this question I'll just go ahead and answer it for you - J's dress was from , and yes, it was incredible. 😍

I'm back in the office after a week on the road shooting elopements with awesome humans (and one super cute dog) and can't wait to share photos from all I've been up to!

Happy Tuesday, fam! I've been on a whirlwind journey through southwest Colorado and the Southwest in general (currently posting this from Sedona, AZ), with a stop to photograph the most gorgeous elopement along the way!

Last week Leila, Josh, and their ridiculously adorable pup Hanzo came out to Colorado from Albuquerque for a big elopement adventure before life takes them to the East Coast. And man, we made the most of it!

Our day started not-so-bright but very early at their AirBnB where they were getting ready. We all piled into their Jeep (including videographer extraordinaire ) and headed for the mountains!

They got into their wedding clothes just before sunrise by the light of the Jeep, did a quick first look, and then had the most beautiful ceremony with no one but us and sweet Hanzo to watch. It was GORGEOUS!

Once the ceremony was over, Hanzo did his big job (signing the marriage license, obvs) and then we spent the rest of the evening exploring my favorite mountains in Colorado!

It was the best day and the BEST way to kick off this busy season and I miss these two already!

"HOW is this even real?!"

Oh trust me, I know the feeling.

17 years of exploring these mountains and getting to know every corner of this big beautiful state and I STILL ask myself this question every single time I go somewhere new (or not new - these kind of places never get old!). So when my couples say the same thing to me, I know exactly what they're feeling. I get it. Because even after all these years, I feel it too.

Getting to share some of the most beautiful places on the planet with some of the best humans is such an enormous gift and one that I will never take for granted.

This is the best job in the world. I feel so, so lucky. ❤️

Greetings from Silverton, Colorado, where I'm posted up for the next few days until we head down to Sedona next week to spend time with family. Yesterday I shot the most beautiful elopement up in Telluride with the sweetest humans and it was honestly the best way to kick off busy season! I am so so so stoked for this year's adventures and can't wait to share this gorgeous day with you all!
