London on Ricoh GR IIIx

Using two different recipes here - Leica and Monochrome Film. These have been two of my go-tos for the last few months and I loved how they did in London. If you want to find the recipes, I’ve done posts for both!



The Leica recipe does a great job with contrast. I think I bumped up the exposure in camera on this one, and it still handled things well.

Beacon Hill but make it black and white 👀

The hill has so much great color, but when photographing the area sometimes it’s fun to take on the challenge of removing those colors and just focusing on the light, the architecture, and other elements of the neighborhood.

These were all taken on my Ricoh GRIIIx and are straight out of the camera using the Monochrome Film recipe.

Moving my way through recipes on my Ricoh GR IIIx has been a great way to force myself to think about how I take photos and the feel I want to convey with them. In some cases, I’m finding that the test photos don’t necessarily come out how I want, but give me an idea of when the right time to use that recipe would be.

This week, I worked with EktaColor. What I loved about this one was that it did a great job of helping reds and blues pop without blowing out the rest of the image. This one will definitely stay in my rotation of pre-programmed recipes that I use on a more consistent basis.

An hour and a half to pass on the ferry across Long Island Sound with my Ricoh GR IIIx in my pocket.

Using the Leica recipe for these, which is one of my favorites right now. It’s great for summer colors and light - offering just enough of a different feel to the photo without being overwhelming.
