Moored up but ready to go

This is from a day trip and I took out to Chatham earlier this year. I have lent flown my drone much in the last year or so, but it’s impossible not to out there with so much to capture beyond the shoreline.

I’m sure either or has probably photographed this fishing rig before and could tell us all about it!

Walking around Cartagena and exploring the area around it for five days offered up some incredible opportunities for photography. It was my first time in Colombia, and as we were exploring the streets and the islands around Cartagena I realized that the three colors of the Colombian flag were present everywhere. Once that clicked, it made it a fun challenge to chase yellow, red, and blue in my photos.

This is absolutely something I’ll do when I travel to other countries now. After seeing so many reels and posts about people choosing colors and chasing them with their cameras, I now understand why the challenge helps you take a unique perspective on what’s around you.

All of these were taken with my Ricoh GR IIIx, which is proving itself over and over again to be an incredible travel camera.

With so much vibrant color in Cartagena, it was a good challenge to take some black and white photos.

All taken on my Ricoh GR IIIx with the Monochrome recipe. Straight out of camera aside from some cropping and straightening.

Part two of posting photos from Colombia based on the main color in the photo. After posting yellow yesterday, I realized I could line it all up with the colors of the Colombian flag, so today we’re going with 🔴 red 🔴.

So with that in mind, take a wild guess at what the color theme of tomorrow’s post will be!

These are all taken with my Ricoh GR IIIx using ‘s Chromachase recipe.

Five days in Colombia and way too many photos to post, so I’ve decided to batch photos based on their main color! For this set, we’re going with (you guessed it) 🟡 yellow 🟡

These were all taken on my Ricoh GR IIIx (still the goat of true pocket-sized travel cameras in my opinion) and I mostly relied on an awesome recipe called Chromachase, which I found on Reddit and was created by . It was perfect for a place like Cartagena where there were so many different colors and light conditions.

More to come in the next few days!

All over Boston, we’ve got trees blossoming, runners on the esplanade, and a questionable forecast for Monday which can only mean that tomorrow is Marathon Monday (Patriots Day!) and spring is finally showing itself.

Good luck to everyone running Boston tomorrow - especially friends and those with that I was lucky enough to be a part of last year!

Before we move into full-blown spring, here’s what the early part of the season has looked like using a sampling of rural Maryland and Boston.

Another day of trying out random film recipes with my Ricoh GR IIIx, and of course right when the spring colors are about to pop here in Boston, I get a black and white recipe 🤦🏻‍♂️

Anyways, this film recipe is called Monochrome Film. Simple enough name that you know what you’re going to get, but I love how flexible it is in various light. I bought it around Boston Common, the Public Garden, and Charlestown over the weekend to see how it would do.

Here’s the recipe for the GR IIIx. If you’re photographing with another Ricoh camera, I’m sure it can get very close. With Fuji, Sony, etc I’m not sure how well it translates over!
