After having reconnected with the ocean after a surfing trips to Portugal, Biarritz and Costa Rica, a hidden passion emerged and I delighted in capturing the extraordinary movement and beautifully true expression of surfing. As a published writer and avid reader, it is always a joy discovering and exploring the intriguing stories behind the surfers I photograph—there's always a story! As a surfer
myself, I have an expert eye and take pleasure in all aspects of surf photography, but admittedly favor close range images for a more intimate presentation. Having grownup in Boston, I have been fortunate enough to have lived by the sea my whole life. Surrounded by rocky coastline, I have been able to experience and capture the incredible raw beauty of the northeast in my backyard. I have been especially lucky having been able to capture the unique winter surfing scene here in and around the South Shore and I have delighted in creating lasting images with my own style that has developed slowly over the years. The ocean is my home and I absolutely love the water and all of its diverse elements. Surf photography allows me to snap a moment of explosive energy and power of the surfer’s unselfconscious movement combines with all of the colors, light, natural turbulence of the water in a beautiful display of amalgamation. There is a natural synergy between surfer and sea in motion together that captivates me. It fills my senses and feeds my passion for beauty.
