There’s a quiet moment in this film where a machine built for war hesitates — and in that hesitation, something human appears.

🎬 The Lonely Drone — my new AI-animated short film — is live now.

Set against the stillness of a desert sky, it follows a childlike military drone as it observes a boy playing soccer alone. When its systems activate, the machine is forced to choose between obedience and awareness.

The story unfolds without dialogue — told only through light, sound, and silence.
It’s not just about AI or drones or technology.
It’s about conscience.

This film asks:

What happens when our machines stop being neutral — and start becoming aware?

I made this project to explore how AI filmmaking can move beyond spectacle — toward emotion, reflection, and soul.
It’s part of my ongoing collaboration with Luma Labs, who are helping reimagine how creators bring these kinds of stories to life.

If you watch one thing today, make it this.
A short film about innocence, automation, and the cost of consciousness in an unfeeling world.

I wrote about the process of working on a dream project with the The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston and my new life balancing a creative career with parenting.

“Given how close I was to becoming a father for the first time, this hit me hard. I saw my future and it was beautiful.”

Hope you enjoy!

This next decade, balancing a family and a blossoming career, is honestly frightening, but it’s moments like those I had with my wife, watching families view our work together, that provided me with so much gratitude that I get to live this crazy creative life. Before you know it, that will be me ...
