There’s something about seeing it all from above… the place, the people, the story just beginning.

A quiet reminder of why I love this work so much. Not just the beauty of a setting like this, but the feeling of a day that’s been so thoughtfully brought together… and the privilege of documenting it as it unfolds.

With the season ahead, I find myself coming back to this perspective. The big picture. The energy. The anticipation.

So excited for everything that’s to come šŸ¤

Some weddings just hit every one of my love languages.

Beautiful architecture. Thoughtful interiors. And a bride absolutely glowing with excitement.

Katie got ready surrounded by the kind of design details that make my heart skip a beat. The light, the textures, the craftsmanship, the quiet beauty of a space that feels intentional. It’s the same reason I love homes so much.

But what makes it magic is when that backdrop holds a moment like this.

Watching Katie’s excitement build throughout the morning, in a space that was already so beautiful, felt like my two worlds colliding in the best possible way.

Design and weddings.
Still obsessed with both.

With a rehearsal dinner this fun, you know the weekend is going to be unforgettable. The rehearsal dinner might not be the ā€œmain event,ā€ but it’s where the story starts.

The first hellos.
The hugs between families meeting for the first time.
The laughter before the big day.

When couples invite me to photograph the entire weekend, I become part of the rhythm of it all. By the time the wedding day arrives, your friends and family already know me.

And that’s where the magic happens.

When you build in the mountains, the exterior isn’t just about curb appeal. It’s about longevity, authenticity, and respect for the land.

At The Pickled Husky, every exterior detail was intentional.

We selected durable siding designed to withstand true Vermont winters — snow loads, freeze thaw cycles, and years of weather without losing character.

We used real cedar so when you step inside, you’re met with that unmistakable natural wood scent. It sets the tone immediately.

The log posts were milled from trees on the property. Nothing decorative. Nothing imported. Just using what the land gave us.

And the stone siding was chosen to echo the stream that runs through the site — so the home feels like it grew there rather than being placed there.

Thoughtful homes are built with intention.

If a new house feels flat the second you walk in, it’s usually because the interior skipped the details older homes were built around. Historic charm is intentional. It’s layered. And it almost never comes from standard builder choices.

1. No recessed lights
Older homes weren’t lit from the ceiling down. They used lamps, sconces, and warm pockets of light that made rooms feel intimate and lived in. We design lighting the same way so ceilings can breathe and spaces feel collected, not overlit.

2. Built-ins everywhere
Historic homes had permanence baked in. Window seats, bookcases, hutches, and nooks weren’t add-ons, they were architecture. Built-ins instantly give a new house weight and make it feel grounded and intentional.

3. Interesting ceilings
If you want a house to feel old, stop treating the ceiling like a blank canvas. Coffers, reclaimed beams, wallpaper, lattice, even copper ceilings add depth and history without shouting for attention.

It’s not one detail that makes a home feel historic. It’s hundreds of quiet decisions working together.

This project didn’t start with a house. It started with a piece of land, a vision, and a lot of patience. What followed were years of planning, rethinking, waiting, and trusting the process. Nearly six years later, The Pickled Husky is finally taking shape. This is the story of how it all began and why the long road was worth it.

I WANT to hear from you. Truly.

With everything feeling so divided right now, this is my small, very intentional way of trying to make a positive environmental impact…. without harming an industry I love deeply.

Green Aisle was built from years inside the wedding world, with so much respect for how hard vendors work, especially florists. This is about collaboration.

If you’re a florist (or any wedding vendor) and you have concerns, questions, hesitations, or ideas—I want to hear them. Talk to me. Message me. Educate me. Help me get this right.

The goal is simple: reduce waste together, protect livelihoods, and create options—not mandates. I care too much about this industry to do it any other way.

This was a ā€˜save money’ project that cost me… my sanity.ā€

After dozens of questions about the laundry room wallpaper, here’s what really happened:
I couldn’t justify the wallpaper price, so I recreated it with a stencil and custom paint colors.

Would I do it again?
Probably not šŸ˜…
