A wedding by the water changes people. It is romantic and refined, but it allows formalities to loosen a bit.

People linger outside longer to take in the ocean breeze and feel the warm sun on their face.

The texture of driftwood, the feeling of soft sand beneath your feet, the crashing of the ocean waves, it is atmosphere and feeling that I love to capture. As someone who grew up in New England, I relish every beach wedding I photograph.

Imane and David share a once in a lif a time relationship. They come for different parts of the world, David from America, and Imane from Morroco, but love brought them togther. David has always had a love for family and is the father to eight wonderful children (not pictured out of respect for the families wishes). But his family was not complete until Imane. In Imane, he found not only partner, but a woman welcomed his children with love and open arms. It was a true honor to capture and witness this family become one.

One of my favorite parts of my job is when a client comes to me with great taste and an idea, but they need help visualizing their day. I love to help with this. Not only do I know it will photograph beautifully, but I love helping my couples take bits of what they love and bringing it all together.

Megan came to me with two color palettes, a couple bouquet inspiration photos, and the color of her bridesmaids dresses and asked me to use my artistic eye and years of experience to help guide her. We discussed what words she wanted to describe her wedding day and I used what we discussed to make two moodboards; one for each color palette. We discussed the vibe of each color palette and how it worked with the venue, the bridesmaids dresses, and which one she preferred.

From there I explained how you can weave the color palette in throughout the day to make it look elegant and cohesive and what Megan came up with was stunning. Romantic garden vibes, mauve and lavender woven throughout the carefully thought out details, candle light under a sail cloth tent... the dream became a beautiful reality.

It was such a pleasure to work with Megan and Brendan and all the talented vendors who made this day happen.

Everyone can learn something from Megan and Brendan, and not just because they are high school teachers. The way they interact and care for eachother is incredibly sweet and inspiring. And just as heartwarming was their devotion to family. Brendan proposed to Megan in Watch Hill in the same spot that his parents got engaged.They got married surrounded by the people they love most on a beautiful, sunny day at the Floriana in Ipswich. It was truly an honor to capture such an amazing couple and their families.

I broke my foot. I have a wedding tomorrow and I cannot put weight on my foot.

But I know everything will be okay because I always have a plan b. And c for that matter.

Every wedding day with me includes a second professional photographer.

And not just any photographer. A photographer that I trust and have worked with. One who has a similar style to me so that if the worst should happen (this is the first tine it has) I know that my couple will be fully taken care of.

I stay calm, find a solution, and bring that solution to my couple so I can walk them through it and help protect their peace.

Things always happen when you least suspect, but with years of experience and being as prepared as possible you can keep things running as smooth as possible.

Tomorrow I will photograph details and formal portraits while the team I have with me will cover parts of the day that require more movement. And everything will be edited and curated in a high end cohesive gallery.

The person behind the camera: A few things worth knowing.

01. I adore tea and have three cups a day, minimum. I love the taste, the warmth, and the sense of calm it brings. The kettle goes on before anything else happens.

02. I am a mom to two small children, which means I am professionally trained in staying completely calm when everything around me is chaos. Wedding days feel remarkably calm by comparison.

03. My favorite scents are earthy: lavender, balsam fir, sandalwood. I love to play to all my senses am the sort of person who does not need a special occasion to light a candle.

04. I cannot pass a dog without stopping to pet them.

05. My mornings start outside. A walk, fresh air, the sound of birds before the day gets loud. It is where I do my clearest thinking and where I get inspired.

06. I am quietly obsessed with garden centers and am running out of places in my house to put plants.

07. I was a musical theater kid. I am completely comfortable in front of a crowd, commanding a room, and making sure people know exactly where they need to be, which turns out to be a surprisingly useful skill on a wedding day.

If any of this sounds familiar, I have a feeling we would work beautifully together.

The best wedding days are the ones where you focus on what matters most. Anh and Thurston understood this from the beginning. For them, that meant being present and enjoying the day with two cultures coming together in a celebration that was full of life and joy. They did not spend the day performing, they spent the day enjoying each other and their loved ones. Witnessing this is one of my favorite parts of my job.

Engagement photos are more than just a practice run. They are a celebration of a new chapter in your life. A moment to stop and take in all the joy. A moment for just the two of you before all the relatives come flying in, and you switch to being a host.

They are a chance for us to see how we are going to work together. What pacing feelings right. What makes you feel most relaxed. What makes you truly unique as a couple.

This is why engagement photos are so special.
