Boonville - Then & Now

Boonville - Then & Now This page is to announce the new book that I'm writing about Boonville, MO. I have found nearly 1,000 images that show Boonville in it's early history.

I've went to the same spot and created an image to show that resemblance of today.

Here are two photos from my new book BOONVILLE - THEN AND NOW - A PICTORIAL which will be for sale this year. I'm almost finished this the photography and text on this project and will be looking for a publisher soon.

The Then Photo: This took place at the curve at the top of Locust Street Hill looking west toward Main Street. Here you see Kemper Military Cadets marching to honor the grave of it's founder, Frederich T. Kemper, at the Walnut Grove Cemetery on Decoration Day in the late 1890's. Early photo by Maximilian E. Schmidt.

The Now Photo: I captured this image on a beautiful October 31. 2018 day in front of Forest Hill at the home of Dennis and Therisa Dunn Oser, 700 Tenth Street looking west.

Take a look.

In this image by Max E. Schmidt ca1898, we see the wagon of George H. Meyer delivering Chouteau Spring Water up and down Main Street where Stevens Appliance is today. He would set up a delivery system where he would deliver a 2 gal. crock jug filled with,,,, Yes,,, Chauteau Water for 25 cents and return on another day with another 2 gal. jug. If you look close in the back of the wagon you find three jugs that he is delivering. Note the image close-up of a jug which is now owned by Jim Higbie.

Here is my new page that is linked to my first book called BOONVILLE - THEN AND NOW - A PICTORIAL. It will contain many photos of Boonville that were taken over 100 years ago. I took the imiges one step further and went to the same spot were the photographer captured his image and photographed the same scene today. Take a look and see an example of what I have found and created.
