Travel Tuesday: Lower Yosemite Falls 💦

It’s Travel Tuesday and I’m sharing one of my favorite easy hikes and stunning scenic spots at Yosemite National Park. Lower Yosemite Falls drops 320 feet and you will get soaked standing near the base! The entire Yosemite Falls system is the tallest waterfall in North America at 2,425 feet — nearly twice the height of the Empire State Building. 🌊
Every time I see the power of the falls and stand near the thundering water misting me with its spray, I’m in awe!
Which is your favorite Yosemite waterfall? 💦

Happy Mindful Monday! 🐦 This male cardinal was singing his heart out—and he had good reason to. Male cardinals can sing up to 200 times per hour, putting everything into every note to defend their territory and attract a mate. That cheerful ‘cheer cheer cheer’ song we love so much? Pure determination.
Slow down today and listen for the beautiful moments hiding in plain sight. Listening to cardinal song always makes me happy. How about you? ❤️

Florida Friday — rainy season is here and she is showing off! 🌈 Black bellied whistling ducks, cardinals chirping happily in the rain, double rainbows and sherbet sunsets. This is why I live here. 🌿

Wildlife Wednesday: Manatee mating herd edition 🦭

I encountered a manatee mating herd in while kayaking in SW Florida! A mating herd forms when multiple males pursue a single female — there can be up to 25 males following her, drawn by pheromones. The herd can last up to three weeks and females have been known to try to strand themselves just to escape!

Manatees surface every 3-5 minutes to breathe when active and can hold their breath up to 20 minutes when resting.

Always keep a good distance from a mating herd as it can get chaotic and manatees are massive! My zoom came in handy. 📷

Have you ever seen a manatee mating herd?

Isn’t it incredible what you can witness in nature when you slow down and pay attention to the small things?
Never a dull morning in my butterfly garden! 🕷️ This crab spider was perfectly matched to my milkweed bloom waiting to ambush an unsuspecting honeybee. Crab spiders don’t spin webs — they’re ambush hunters that can change color over several days to match their flower. 🪻
And here’s the fascinating part — they actually reflect UV light which lures bees closer rather than repelling them. Nature is wild! 🌿
