🔥 CALLED. KNOWN. SENT. FAITHFUL TO GOD.
Jeremiah 1 — The Calling of Jeremiah
📖 Jeremiah 1:4–5 (KJV)
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee…”
One of the first things God establishes with Jeremiah is this:
Jeremiah’s calling did not begin when Jeremiah recognized it. His calling began with God.
🔎 GOD KNEW HIM
The Hebrew word for “knew” is יָדַע — yadaʿ.
It carries the meaning of knowing, recognizing, perceiving, and having intimate knowledge.
God wasn’t simply saying, “I knew about you.”
There is something much deeper here.
God knew Jeremiah personally, and God knew the purpose for which He was forming him.
The word “formed” comes from יָצַר — yatsar, meaning to form, fashion, mold, or shape—like a potter shaping clay.
💡 God didn’t accidentally make Jeremiah.
God formed him with purpose.
And the same God who formed Jeremiah knew what He was forming him for.

🔥 “I SANCTIFIED YOU”
The Hebrew word קָדַשׁ — qadash means to set apart, make holy, consecrate, or dedicate.
Jeremiah wasn’t simply being given a job.
He was being set apart for God’s purpose.
And this is where we need to understand something about calling:
“Calling isn’t about becoming important.
Calling is about becoming available to God.”
Your calling isn’t about building your name.
It’s about making His name known.

📖 JEREMIAH 1:6 — “I CANNOT SPEAK”
Jeremiah responds:
“Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.”
Jeremiah immediately focused on his limitations.
He saw his:
• Age
• Ability
• Experience
• Inadequacy
But God saw something Jeremiah couldn’t see yet.
Jeremiah saw, “I can’t.”
God saw, “I called you.”
Sometimes we allow our weaknesses to become louder than God’s calling.
But your limitations do not cancel God’s purpose.

🔥 JEREMIAH 1:7–8 — “GO WHERE I SEND YOU”
God tells Jeremiah:
“Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee…”
Notice what God didn’t tell Jeremiah.
He didn’t say, “You are capable enough.”
He essentially told him:
“I will be with you.”
That is the difference between self-confidence and God-confidence.
You don’t have to believe that you are enough.
You have to believe that God is enough.

🔥 JEREMIAH 1:9 — “I HAVE PUT MY WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH”
“Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.”
The Hebrew word דָּבָר — dabar can refer to a word, speech, matter, thing, or message.
Jeremiah wasn’t called to create his own message.
He was called to carry God’s message.
🔥 MINISTRY PRINCIPLE:
Don’t let your personality become bigger than God’s Word.
Don’t let your talent become bigger than God’s calling.
Don’t let your platform become bigger than the One who gave you the platform.
The messenger has a purpose—but the message belongs to God.

🙏 CALLED. KNOWN. SENT. AVAILABLE.
God knew Jeremiah.
God formed Jeremiah.
God sanctified Jeremiah.
God called Jeremiah.
God sent Jeremiah.
And God promised to be with Jeremiah.
The question isn’t always:
“Am I important enough?”
The question is:
“Am I available enough for God to use me?”
Because calling isn’t about becoming important.
Calling is about becoming available to God. 🔥
“Here am I; send me.” — Isaiah 6:8
