Spending a few days in Eastern Oregon on the Deschutes River. Last night's sunset looked like it wasn't going to happen because it was completely overcast. Magically, the clouds started thinning out and the fire started. The sunset just kept going and going.
Trivia: The Deschutes River was made famous by the popular board game, "Deschutes and Deladders".

Lake Lowell Sunset
Sped out to Lake Lowell with the hopes of shooting a nice sunset. For most of the evening there was nothing, but with the sun's last gasp, she flung up a palette of awesomeness.

It's wheat-harvesting time in southern Idaho, so I thought a sunset shot with the wheat would be nice. However, smoke from the Oregon wildfires is doing a number on our air quality. So instead you get "Wheat & Wildfires". This shot was taken just before the sun completely disappeared into the soup.

It occurred to me that I hadn't flown my drone in quite a while, so I drove to my favorite spot on the Snake River to capture the sunset. The Guffey Bridge adds a little interest with it's partial reflection.

n the Bisti Badlands, there is an area known as "The Eggs", "Cracked Eggs" or "Alien Egg Garden". There are hundreds of these rock formations in all shapes and sizes. The third image looked like an alien torso and skull to me.

Our Action Photo Tours group spent the night at Shiprock with our Navajo guide, Kialo. Shiprock is a sacred site to the Navajo people and the Navajo name, Tsé Bitʼaʼí, means winged rock or rock with wings.
It was about 29 degrees, so it was quite chilly. Still, a fun night with a great group of photographers.

I'm sure most of you recognize this location from a famous movie. Here's a hint: this spot is known as Forrest Gump Hill, or Forrest Gump Point.
I'm headed to New Mexico tomorrow for a photography workshop with so thought I'd break up the drive by stopping in Monument Valley tonight.
Since this was on the way in, I had to stop for the shot. Standing in the middle of the highway is a little disconcerting, but most drivers were courteous and allowed us knuckleheads to stand in the middle of the road to get the shot.

Some nice fireworks last night at Lake Lowell. I haven't been out shooting in quite a while, so it felt great to be behind the camera again.

During a quick overnight trip down to Ogden, Utah yesterday, I dashed in between thunderstorms to get an evening reflection of the Ogden temple.
