the weddings people cannot stop talking about are usually the least traditional ones ✨
Not because they were the fanciest.
Not because they had the biggest budget.
Not because every single detail was “perfect.”
But because they actually felt PERSONAL.
The weddings guests remember forever are usually the ones where couples fully let themselves lean into who they are instead of trying to recreate a wedding they saw online somewhere.
The weddings with picnic blankets instead of ceremony chairs.
The weddings with sage ceremonies at sunset.
The weddings with medieval dress codes and giant cat cutouts and champagne b**g toasts.
The weddings where couples read private vows first because they wanted intimacy without the pressure of an audience.
The weddings where guests leave thinking:
“wait… you can DO that?”
THAT is the stuff people remember.
I think somewhere along the way the wedding industry convinced couples that perfection is what makes a wedding meaningful.
But after photographing so many weddings and elopements across the PNW and beyond, I can promise you this:
personality will always be more memorable than perfection.
Your wedding does not need to be traditional to be beautiful.
It does not need to make sense to everyone else.
It just needs to feel honest to the two of you.
