I'm a family photographer based in Boise, Idaho. I'm Hannah, a fine art photographer living in San Diego, CA with my husband and our three little ones.

I teach other photographers how to create the art and business they dream of through courses, coaching, and free educational content! I am incredibly thankful for a home that is not just a location I love but a whole lot of people who I love. I never expected to be a photographer. As a child I didn't dream of creating amazing art and I never took a camera everywhere with me. In fact, I spent sever

al years as a discontented software engineer, itching to get out of the monotony of a desk job, trying to figure out what I should be doing instead. Somehow - I'm not even sure how - I realized what my instead should be. And I love it. I love photographing people. I love capturing the connection and emotion between people and preserving it in a beautiful way. I love documenting family, friendships, and romance. I love illustrating love. Real life, real relationships, real people - all living real love stories. It's a privilege and a joy to visually tell these stories for you to look back on for years to come. Hello & Goodbye

(Don’t worry, not a real goodbye!)

If you’ve been following along here for a while, you already know that photography education has become a huge part of what I do. I’ve always shared that here alongside my client work because I honestly couldn’t commit to managing another social media account. (In all seriousness, I’d be offline if it weren’t for work!)

But ready or not, it’s time! Photo clients and photographers looking for education are two completely separate audiences. It feels sort of like when I’m having two separate conversations with two of my kids at the same time, and it has started to get confusing. (Honestly though I’m better at that than you might think.)

This account isn’t going anywhere — I’m simply taking it back to being focused on my client work, for the wonderful families who trust me with their most precious memories.

And if you’re a photographer who is interested in practical education, honest perspectives on this awesome/weird industry, and some encouragement thrown in too, I’d love to invite you to join me over at .education.

Wherever you find me, know that I don’t take it lightly that you choose to let me into your feed. My goal has always been to add value, and that goal remains the same — this divide should help me serve each person better.

This is my most affordable offering of the year by a long shot, because I am so committed to making space to celebrate this most important and often unseen work.

These sessions are 20 minutes long and take place at my studio. I’ll be working with each mother to style her session as dressed up or dressed down as she desires.

Confession: I was very self conscious about getting maternity photos done while I was pregnant. I didn’t feel like myself at all. My face puffed up and I looked exhausted and I really did feel like a whale.

But I’m years past my last pregnancy at this point, and I’m now SO glad I have those photos. Obviously! Growing four children was tough, but such a gift. And with distance, I’m much more able to see the beauty of that difficult stage and look back on that version of myself with kindness.

If you’re expecting a baby and are feeling tempted to skip documenting this season, I can promise you that you will never regret photographing this time of anticipation and expectation… but you’ll likely regret skipping it!

Because no matter how tough pregnancy can be at times - mentally or physically - there will come a day when you will able to see how beautiful you truly were in this stage, just like everyone around you can see right now.

There really is nothing quite like the beauty of a mother who is growing a new and precious life, and it will forever be one of my favorite things to celebrate!

Trying to share some more fall and winter photos before they feel completely out of place with the early spring we’re having 🤪

We often don’t have green grass or any leaves again until late April, and it even snowed on Mother’s Day a few years ago. So the fact that all of the trees are blooming and it’s supposed to be 73 degrees for my outdoor newborn session this weekend is a little wild - and wonderfully welcome! I am a whole new person when warm weather returns and I get to spend my days outside💃🏻

The silver lining of having the lamest winter on record? Spring has arrived early, which means a longer outdoor photo season for me! 🙌🏻

A couple important notes:

1. If you want on my calendar before triple digit season arrives (which I strongly suggest!) it really is time to reach out now. April and May are a wonderful time for photos and they’re almost upon us!

2. I’ll be hosting my annual motherhood event this April, and will be releasing details ASAP! I absolutely love this event, and celebrating the beautiful work you all pour into your families by creating the most meaningful Mother’s Day gift imaginable. It’s time for my annual PSA: the best weather of the entire year happens in May and June, and my calendar is already filling fast! I mean it when I say that we need to be planning now if you want photos before it gets hot. 🥵 💃🏻

I’ll also be hosting another motherhood session event this year, which I’m so excited to bring back!! I have done this for many years but skipped it last year - it was the first anniversary of my husband’s mother passing, and collectively we were simply fatigued.
